Terrible trade in Family league - am I making this a bigger deal than it is?

I have a longtime family league (cousins, aunts/uncles, nephews, etc) where half the owners aren’t real big football fans outside of watching the Saints. Only a handful of us, including the commish, are Fantasy football savvy. Commish has historically executed lopsided trades with those less savvy owners.

Earlier this week, commish executed a trade where he received Godwin and Waller while sending away Chuba Hubbard (fresh off waivers) and Kyle Pitts. He was called out on this lopsided trade and then reversed the trade as a result. Now some feelings are hurt and things are a little awkward, especially with it supposedly being a “fun” family league.

Would you call this shite out, even in a less competitive league, or let it slide? Considering parting ways after this season as fantasy football isn’t worth stirring up drama with the family. On the other side, playing fantasy football isn’t “fun” when half the owners are barely tuned in and the commish is pulling off some wild trade rape once every other year…

Dude I have it worse, I am in a league where the commissioner just traded for davante Adam’s by giving up just Dionte Johnson and Ty Williams. I am pissed.

If things get that one sided, it's no longer fun IMO. I would definitely say something. Just have to try to word it in a way that shows people that the trade isn't fair and hurts the integrity of the lead while lessening people's chances to win. Losing isn't fun no matter what kind of league it is.

What’s stopping you from doing the same?

Seems like your options are currently:

1) take advantage of people you presumably like and care about with lopsided fantasy trades
2) get annoyed when you lose at fantasy when the commish does #1

It seems like you don’t really want to go down the path of #1 (I don’t blame you one bit) and the lack of competition overall makes the league not all that fun for you.

I would leave the league and invest your time elsewhere. JMO

Not a short term fix, but consider switching the league to a best ball format next year.

That way everyone can focus up for the one big draft event of the year, then y’all can just ignore it while still getting to trash talk/watch it through the semester. No chance for trade rapes, no waiver wire domination by half the league, and everyone gets at least some chance to succeed if your less active family members just get super lucky on the draft.

Food for thought. Seems like the safer format for an inactive league full of family.

Is it a money league?

How is it that a “longtime” league is filled with people who dont care and suck at playing fantasy football?

Sounds like there is just a few of you who care about winning. If that is the case it’s a huge waste of time. Bc even if you win that league it’s nothing to brag about bc everyone sucks.

Take the members that care and start a new league with others that care.
