a slow auction would be the way to go.
on a serious note, it seems like we all want the leagues to be more strategic but we still insist on doing fast drafts in baseball and basketball. If you really want to be strategic and not rushed slow drafts are ideal for better strategy

Is the bid order the same each round? I mean still if there is a bid on a player and you go once through the order at 10 secs each chance, at the max you are talking 1:50 of time to think things over, and that is still less than most normal drafts. Couple that with some people not using the full allotted 10secs and you are talking considerably less time than any normal draft to make decisions.
From what I gather you need to not only plan for that pic, but also for down the line. It's more than just clicking a player and choosing en.

Les as soon as you realize that a player is beyond what you want to pay you have plenty of time to figure the next option. the lobby will basically tell you what your max bid is in order to complete a squad. when a player exceeds your budget start planning the next move. upper tier players are going to be bid probably for about 2-3 minutes
add in that you can nominate whoever you want when its your turn. whether it be a bidding war for drew brees or for matt flynn it takes a lil while

best way is to come in the draft with a spreadsheet set up with preassumed values as to how you will build your team. keep updating that with how the draft is going and what you plan on spending for each position.
