Byrd was probably a reach for me, but i like his ability to hit for good average and power in the 3-hole for the cubs. i also think he will score a lot of runs with ARam and Pena hitting behind him
i was happy to get Stauffer with the 9th pick of the 5th round. good value for opening day starter there. same thing with Carmona with 7th pick of 7th round
Les seems to be more sold on Seth Smith (14th pick of Round 6) than I am. i very much consider it a boom or bust pick. he should get a shitload of pitches to see batting in front of Tulo and Cargo
Pierzynski was a reach big time in round 10, but i was hurting for a catcher. he was seriously all that was left. i have hope that he will get a lot to swing at batting 6th in that lineup. will have good protection with Quentin behind him and Rios in front of him
i really liked my 11th round
got Jack Cust with 3rd pick of round: batting cleanup in SEA this season and average 24 HR over the last 3 seasons in OAK (not exactly a hitter's park), primed for a bounceback season from 15 HRs last year
Jon Rauch with 5th pick of round: that closer's spot in Toronto is wide open, and the huge righty has the advantage of first shot at the job. with his past experience and ability to succeed, i think he has a decent shot to hold the job
Travis Hafner: 13th selection of the round: i know what you're thinking......awesome pick if it's 2006. guy has had shoulder problems for the last couple of years. i am basing this pick on his .313 this spring and actually showing a healthy body. i consider this a low risk, med/high reward pick
Raph Soriano with 10th pick of Round 12 is pure future trade value. He becomes a top-5 RP again the day Mo Rivera announces his retirement or his bionic body finally shows signs of wearing down.

How late did the draft end up going? I was going to follow along but after a round of that I decided to bail.

I think it ended around 10pm.

I probably don't have the SP you're looking for, but I'd be interested in Nelson Cruz for sure.

I got my guy. Doubt he would have made it back to me 27 picks later.
Think he'll make a solid #2/3 guy down the road. Won't wow you w/ his K #s, but gets outs. Rated best sinker in the minors.

Carmona and Stauffer for Nelly?

He probably wouldn't have... except that I was already loading up on SPs. I had him pretty high, but below Teheran.

That was one of my favorite exchanges from last night.
Barry took Arroyo in the 4th round because "he's an innings eater."

I meant he gets a lot of starts, hence more QS, and his usually low WHIP has even more value. You can all eat a bag of dicks.

No
I'm only looking for a studly SP for him

I'd rather eat a bunch of innings.

Yes that's correct, that's who I was talking about.

Stauffer is easily the ace of that staff. I mean why else would he be starting opening day? He's not the #4 pitcher in that rotation or anything
Don't get so mad big Rouge

not mad at all. dont hate on my upselling of Stauffer's Lasagna
