how did picking a RB over a QB last year land teams with more points?

14 of the top 20 RBs drafted last year either underperformed or missed enough time to heavily affect their team.

In my personal League I drafted Foster...and drafted Eli in the 8th

And Cam in the last round.

Foster and Eli >>> Rodgers and Sidney Rice (the guy that drafted Rodgers Drafted Rice in the 8th)

Cam and Foster >>>>>>>> Rodgers and anyone

Drafting a QB early effects you the rest of the draft IMO

it's easy to cherry pick rondo. i'm just speaking generally

and last year wasn't nearly as bad as this year was for RBs going into the draft. But still, the RB has been trending to this for a few years now. It was fairly easy to sense

Brady is the right answer.

Has more weapons and better system than years past.

Brees - no coach
rodgers - questionable weapons.

Can't miss....look at the top 10 picks from last year

Rbs injure, running QBS don't always score double digit running tds, and QBS lacking weapons have trouble repeating past success.

Yeah, I am as confidant as ever with Brees.

Rodgers has questionable weapons

Randall Cobb is their 5th option and he is pretty talented

he's got two elite WR's and a good TE, hell Randall Cobb is pretty good and he's like their 4th WR
At worst he's got above average weapons

That does bring up a good point b/c I always throw out "major" injuries when I go back and do those hypothetical drafts.

So I guess the safer pick would be the elite QB but IF both stay healthy you will get more points by going with the RB.

Safer pick is right but if you had a second or third tier qb and one of the six that didnt have an issue you were sitting better than having Rodgers and one of the other 14. Problem is how do you know and that's the fun and frustrating part of it.

FWIW I drafted McCoy infront of Brees last year and won my league. Rivers was my QB.

here's the thing - if you have a top pick and pick a top 3 rb - rice, mccoy, foster, then grab a qb in round 4-7, you'll generally get more points out of those two than you would with ROdgers plus the pick from whatever round you'd take the qb (ie rd 4-7).

I took Rice 1st, with Romo in round 5. If I had already taken Rodgers, I would have drafted Steve Johnson or someone similar. Romo plus Rice > Rodgers plus Johnson. Also, if I drafted Romo, my no.1 rb would be a no.2, and my no.2 would be a complete joke.
