Where have I heard that before?. . . Oh, yea. Last year.
Shouldnt weigh last years stats as a precursor of things to come. If you're going to do that then i will point out the three seasons before the great hold out of 2011.
Avg yards per season: 1532 yds
Avg TDs: over 11
That includes his rookie season and excludes his receiving stats.

I'm not denying that he's a good RB, or that he'll have a decent-good season. What I'm saying is, he's not worth a 1st or 2nd round pick. Evidently, I'm in the minority on that.
ETA: And just to correct what someone said earlier, Chris Johnson was not a top-10 back last year. According to the stats I read, he was 17th.
2nd Edit: Just to prove I wasn't lying: LINK

I have him as the #4 rb and drafted him as such in the only real draft I've had this year.

9th overall in PPR.
TERRIBLE

I'm actually considering taking him 3rd overall, ahead of McCoy. (After Foster and Rice as I'm assuming they will be taken)

I have two no. 4 picks, and not sure if I should take him or not.

You mean the same Chris Johnson that is capable of a 2k yard season? The Chris Johnson that plays on a team that loves to run, has no backup threat and plays behind a very good offensive line? The Chris Johnson who even though he was subpar last year, after holdout and lockout, still finished with over 1000 yards? I'm picking 7th in my draft. If the top 6 players are gone and MJD doesn't report before Saturday, CJ will be my pick.

Didn't he still have like 1400 yards? On a DOWN year?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but a back who's bad season totals yards deserves a look in the first round. Top 5 potential every year. And that, is my opinion.

I know it's pre season but he did not look good tonight. Looks like he comes off the field on third downs also. Beware.

Yeah, you are talking about his "bad season" being his floor.
If his floor is 9-15 (depending on PPR or not), and his upside is no. 1 overall RB, he's a pretty damn good pick outside the top 5.

I would draft him after McFadden forte foster rice McCoy and maybe Murray.

Where was that chip on his shoulder last season, after "everyone said he wasn't worth the payday"? I mean, he did sign the contract he wanted before the season started.
If there was anyone stating that he wasn't worth the payday right after a 2000 yard season and before his down year last year, I question their credibility.

What most dont mention is that CJ has a new run oriented coach with a beefed up line. He WILL be a top five back.

I think I would draft him. Not sure where I'm picking, so don't know if it will be an issue. But he's a realiable workhorse, which is becoming a rarer comodity every year.

He'll get 20 touches rushing and probably 1-3 receiving a game. I'm not worrying about that game tonight. This guy has been durable for what is it four years now? If he's there in the first, I'm getting him.

check his preseason stats from the last 3 years.. they suck. he's still gonna go off this year..
