fricking Jeff Mans breaking news

And yeah agree on these “industry experts” being fricking buffoons that provide nothing of value whatsoever.

At least the guys I hear on XM in the car.

Like they can only be helpful to people that have literally never drafted before, and in 2019 I just find it hard to believe there are actually people out there that haven’t.

Mans did like a full two hour show a couple of weeks ago talking about how you can’t just go straight off of rankings when you draft. Seriously who the frick does that???

And this clown was screaming for two hours like he was the only person in the world who has ever realized rankings aren’t gospel and you have to look at all the players available within the tier as well as your roster needs when your pick comes up.

I also love it when Mans gives a hot take like Tevin Coleman being on his all Mans team for the 7th round. As if Coleman would ever be available there anyway.

fricking jamoke.

That dude is a clown. Went on a rant earlier this week about how people who draft Josh Gordon are part of the problem and why he can't get over his drug addiction.

Like they can only be helpful to people that have literally never drafted before, and in 2019 I just find it hard to believe there are actually people out there that haven’t.

even then, the general information out there is so much greater than it was even 10 years ago. i mean ADP alone being public for all online drafts is insanely helpful. that's a HUGE sample size telling you the relative value of EVERY player. you simply cannot "beat the market" in any rational sense (at least in the draft).

now there are the advanced stats guys, and i'm not an expert here but my take is the most valuable information they can give you is on under/over valued roster construction ideas. however, these are proliferated pretty quickly which means only the apex trendsetters really get to realize that value (and once that information is public, it's too late for anyone reading)

also due to the nature of traditional FFB (small rosters, set rosters, 1 game/week, and being point-based), you're just very limited even in construction. also each league dynamic is very important (esp once you get away from simplistic drafting and go to auction). for example, every league i've played on, on here, over-values the hell out of the very elite players compared to industry drafts. how can these people give me real analysis when they're playing a very different game?

I don't know that I really have a go to. I usually just leave my TV on nfl network so I'm used to their show, but really I don't have anyone that I trust more than myself and the internet. I'll turn the shows/podcasts on but really just to get news and stats.

I read Matthew Berry and listen to his Fantasy football focus podcast. Part entertainment, partly listening for ideas. I don’t blindly follow any analysts though, I make my own decisions

R/fantasy football is a great free website for resources. There’s a lot of smart people doing good work on there and sharing it, but of course you need to be able to understand their work to interpret if it’s good or crap

No love for the guru John Hansen on SiriusXM? I very much enjoy listening to him on Fantasy Football Morning. Very entertaining and a pretty sharp mind.

quite literally every auction I've ever done, the elite players go for 10-15 higher than listed values.

I could also deal without these assholes trying to push best ball so hard "ohh I own a lot of him in the 50 best ball leagues I'm in" Who gives a frick? Best ball is even more niche than auction but they push the hell out of that.

Agreed. I don’t find them entertaining at all. I do find they have the best rankings for me and they put up way more solid info than ESPN, Yahoo and CBS. But that’s all I’ll use them for.

Podcast I’ll do fantasy focus just for Dopp, Field and Matthew Berry.

Well, I'll die on the hill with the Footballers. I find them entertaining and knowledgeable.

Same the CBS guys. They're awesome to listen to and good info.

Hate Fantasy Focus. Cant stand listening to Berry whine for an hour.

The Yahoo podcast with Liz Loza and Matt Harmon is one I just found that's also pretty entertaining and good info. Plus, Loza is a fox.

Also, if you listen to XM, get ready for more Footballers. They now have a 2 hour live show every Thursday on there.
