Malcolm Brown vs Nyheim Hines

Both Brown and Hines are available in my league and I have the #1 waiver spot. My RB's are WEAK. I have Ronald Jones, Miles Sanders, Jordan Howard, and Phillip Lindsey. Which RB do I pick up, Malcolm Brown or Nyheim Hines? TIA

I think Hines week 1 role has a better chance at being permanent than Browns. He's going to be the pass catching back, I don't think you have to worry about Taylor getting that role. It doesn't look like the colts will be in a lot of big blowout positive game scripts.
Brown is going to be pretty touchdown dependent and I don't see the guarantee that he's going to get all the goal line carries despite what happened last night.
Look at Ekeler last season in the receiving game. Hines is the guy for me

Hines has a defined PPR role. With Mack out, maybe a little more volume. You'll get what you get. Akers may ascend to the RB1 position sooner or later.

Taylor just went 6/67 in the air. Rivers is going to throw a lot to whatever RB is in the game. It’s going to come down to snap share and it’s going to be tough to count on TDs with a bruiser like Taylor
I’d be chasing brown over Hines. He looked better than Akers, and being the GL back is valuable. We’ve seen Gurley score 54 TDs the last 3 seasons and 75% of them came from within 10 yards

I should’ve clarified 3rd down back. You think that target share holds up for Taylor? Pretty rare for rookie backs to catch a lot of passes. I just think the backfield in LA is going to be a weekly crapshoot- same with Baltimore. Hines will have a good floor every week. There’s a precedent there with Rivers and his penchant for throwing it to backs, and there’s now added rushing volume for Hines.
I can’t get on board with the Gurley comparisons- he was an elite talent when he racked up those stats. Akers has better physical tools than MB. I just think it’s a matter of time with him. They took him early for a reason. Can’t just write him off after his first game.

It’s not a Gurley comp - though he was bad last year and still scored 14 times - it’s about the offense and the opportunity. They run the ball and pass to the the RB a ton in the RZ since McVay came on board

I have one league that I am still in that refuses to move to PPR and it is a total mindfrick for me at times.
