Looks like my 6th overall pick is coming down to Kamara vs. Barkley

Been doing several mocks and in most situations it comes down to these 2. Sometimes A. Brown is there who I'd take over the 2 RBs but I'm expecting him to be gone.

I've always been a volume (Barkley) over high-performing offense (Kamara) and I worry about the hits Kamara absorbs. Am I crazy for considering Barkley?

Kamara is proven. Take him.

Kamara is a violent runner despite his lighter frame. Felt like on several runs last year he could have had a concussion from absorbing contact rather than avoiding it.

Kamara could end up being #1 rb this year, he is right up there with the tops, just less proven.

Also unless a guy is injury prone like Reed and others - you will never be able to predict who gets hit with a freak injury or a nagging injury for the year. It is a total crap shoot in that regard.

Mark Ingram II - 5’9 215lbs
Alvin Kamara - 5’10 215lbs

Are you worried about the hits Ingram absorbs too?

Anyone concerned with Barkley and the hamstring? I know it’s precautionary but that can turn into a nagging issue.

You would absolutely not be crazy to pick Barkley. His volume will be huge and he will perform like a first rounder if healthy. Nevertheless, this is a toss up if we're being honest here. You can't go wrong with either Barkley or Kamara. I would probably pick Kamara though, but I guess it's just a preference.

I have the same pick in my 12 team league and have the same delimma. I plan to go Kamara unless something weird happens ahead of me, even then I think I still go Kamara. He’s the proven commodity, Ingram is out 4 weeks, and Barkley is on a poor team with an injury concern. I do like Barkley, but I feel Kamara is the better choice.

I did my first mock last night and took Kamara when given the same options. I had a much easier time picking up receivers I’m comfortable with than I did RBs behind Kamara. That sort of reaffirmed the Kamara choice to me because he’s the proven option in a good offense.

Well OP was talking about either Kamara and Barkley so I was talking about the two. I wouldn't call you crazy at all if you pick Fournette in that spot either. He could certainly be on of the best RBs in fantasy, but his injuries the past couple years do scare me, so I would probably pick Barkley or Kamara over him.

Let me start with I would pick kamara out of those two, but why is everyone so high on kamara? He had a fantastic year that he can’t duplicate and now every team has a years worth of film on him. I worry he will be a bust

Edit: by bust I mean for being a first rd pick, I think he will be productive for sure

It’s possible. He’s very unlikely to reproduce his efficiency from last year, but I think part of his performance last year was due to a change in Drew Brees. I think Brees and the Saints have shifted the offense to adjust with the game and Brees’s age. Ingnram is out 4 weeks so those first 4 weeks he should be very very good for fantasy. When Ingram returns I still think his usage is higher this year than last year giving him more volume. Even being less efficient than 2017 his 2018 should bring higher volume.

Kamara is a safe pick because his floor is so high. He’s a lock for 80 catches. What he does with these touches prob won’t be exactly like last year but it’s better than most.

With Ingram out he’s in line for more carries which he was gonna get anyway. He should easily approach 300 touches & double digit TDs.

Considering he didn't get on the field much in weeks 1-4 last year makes me excited about what he could do in a full season.
