Chris Johnson isn't in Arizona to sit the bench, he's going to get touches in the game. And Arians like using Ellington on 3rd downs. Not saying it'll be 33/33/33 but I don't see Johnson getting over 70% touches every week especially when they need him for the playoffs later in the season.
Chris Johnson is 30 years old and makes $1mil this year on a 1 year deal. He's insurance
Re: Ellington on 3rd down - do you know anything about Johnson and what he does well? You've been saying Ellington sucks for years now
As for getting 70% of the touches, you are talking 300+ carries. Considering AP was the only guy with 300+ carries last season I'd say you're really going out on a limb there!!!

He also plays for a team with a questionable defense. If the Cowboys are playing from behind Elliot is kind of irrelavent. Plus the O-Line benefits Romo more than anything.
It's the best run blocking offensive line in the league. Not saying that they aren't also really good at pass blocking, but how does that benefit romo more than anything? OSU has a zone run blocking scheme so zeke should translate easily into Dallas' scheme. Also one of the things that immediately throws zeke into an every down back is his ability to pass block and catch out the back field. Saying he's irrelevant when their down is just dumb, even when they're down they'll still be running because of how successful they are at it. And he'll have plenty of opportunities to get catches out of the backfield. The only way he doesn't finish top 5 in my opinion is if he gets hurt.

I do not understand the David Johnson love either. For whomever said David Johnson is not in a timeshare, can you link Arians saying this specifically? Where is the evidence of this? Not saying that there isn't, but I haven't read anything about him continuing to get the 20+ carries down the stretch like he did last year when Chris Johnson was out that came from Arians.
And he had 36 receptions last season with not many more targets. Woodhead had 80, so for anyone shitting on Woodhead, he had a monster season last year compared to his value and played the same amount of snaps or even less than Johnson. Not saying Woodhead has Johnson's value, but I don't understand how one is being suggested as the 2nd overall pick (are you guys fricking kidding me?) and Woodhead is getting shite on.

Johnson is reaching last year's CJ Anderson level. He's good but Lamar Miller is a much safer pick. Elliot has average season written all over him.
Or like any other RB rookie, he hits the rookie wall of not playing in a full 16 game season and starts to regress. I think Elliot is a top 10 draft pick NEXT season, but you're putting all your eggs in a basket on a player who's never played a down in the NFL and is already dealing with an injury in camp.

He had 196 carries last year in 10.5 games at age 29. He is back this year. How does everyone know he is supplanted for sure?

Chris Johnson in his last 6 games
117att 409 yards 1 td 3.50 YPC
2 catches, 7 yards
David Johnson in the next 6 games.
98 carries 463 yards 5 TD 4.72 YPC
19 catches 224 yards 1 TD
So to me, I would think common sense says it probably wont be much of a time share. Maybe very early on, but trust your eyes, David JOhnson will come out on top. I think Arians is just being respectful of the veteran CJ2K when talking to the media. They'll use both but

Chris Johnson will turn 31 after week 2.

Entire Cards team drools of Johnson, he's that special.

Arians said something during the show they aired on Amazon, All or Nothing, about David Johnson being a bell cow in the future. Trying to find an actual quote and will post it if I do.

Because Arians said so.

Yea, Arians and GM gave zero Fs when CJ went down with an injury.

Cool, I just read an article which also shows the team gushing all over him, but it also mentioned that he's still not completely set in pass pro. IMO, if Palmer get hits one time due to Johnson missing an assignment, he's in the dog house.

CJ Anderson was hurt early last year. His last 12 games he went 139/774/7 for 5.5 ypc The Broncos were undefeated when he got 14+ carries in a game.
And Miller is a fine pick, has nothing to do with David Johnson

Can you give me another example of an elite rookie running back with the skill set of Elliot that had the best offensive line in the league and no competition for the starting job and was just average?
And just for the record his injury was incredibly minor and they were being cautious by leaving him out of a couple of practices. He's already back.

This is so much like the Ellington pain train from the last few seasons.
I wouldn't think anything of the hype. There's hyped players every year that are supposed to get their opportunity. They just aren't suggested as the no.2 overall pick in PPR like youre doing. I mean, talk about boom or bust. Why not Brown, OBJ, Julio, Peterson, Gurley, Bell, Freeman, or even Hopkins right there?

Yep. Todd Gurley of all people admitted that he just hit a wall after mid-season and didn't have much left in the tank.

I like Elliot, but that wasn't my post. I wouldnt take him 2 overall, but i think he'll eventually be the feature guy in Dallas this year.
Posted on 8/17/16 at 1:44 pm to Goldrush25
Gurley didn't have his first practice till August 25 last year. Of course you're going to sputter out if you don't get any work in for the entire off season.

There are just too many comments like this for it to be coach-speak, IMO.
Ellington may see some targets and CJ may get 5 or 6 carries a game, but I think it's clear DJ is the man there now.

I don't think the Cards ever comped Ellington to Marshall Faulk
I don't understand the playing of devil's advocate on Johnson if you watched him last year. Unless he gets hurt or comes out as full on shithead like Jeremy Hill (all reports are Johnson is hungry and hard working), he's going to be really good
