Yeah, it's a very shitty feeling of relief. The guy that brought me to my house lost his. Second time since he lived in old Metairie during Katrina. Then I'm seeing all of my friends in Ascension lose everything.

Anybody heard from Paps?

Had to evactuate his house, but he believes he's dry. His relatives weren't so fortunate.

Low pressure system sat still in the gulf developing, and then it sat still over LA once reaching land. Certain areas got 30"+ of rain and rivers simply got too high. NOLA metro didn't get that sort of rain; almost lost my car in Destrehan flooding last week though.

Had that cell been 15 miles more East, we would have been testing out all those Katrina infrastructure improvements.

Pretty much from Robert to Lafayette had at least 20" of rain in less than 48 hours.

I know a handful of people that were just getting back into their homes after the March floods, and just lost it all again. Sucks big time

Yea it reminds me of Tropical Storm Allison back in 2000 or 2001 exept about 10 times the coverage area.

My arse was lucky as hell.

Our house was surrounded on all sides by water but it stopped an inch below the slab. Every single one of my neighbors on my side of the street flooded.

No we left. We were pretty sure we wouldn't get more than a foot or two if we did flood but we definitely would have been stuck at home for 2-3 days.

We should be home tomorrow morning.

I figured since I hadn't heard from him it wasn't going to be good. At least he had flood insurance while it appears many didn't.

I was about to post the same in response. However, Allison had a larger coverage area. SE La had significant flooding as did Houston. I was in New Orleans at the time and escaped all of the flooding living uptown until the last night when a blocked storm drain caused my street to flood and put my car underwater. Not as bad as losing a house but still sucked.
