They might not need it, but they want it.
Plus I'd wager he's a big step up defensively from Frazier. I haven't looked at numbers to back that up though.

Yea they will take him for a year at that salary. They are built to win and he won’t deplete their farm for 1 year

There was a position player last season with P eligibility due to blow out relief appearances. It's not that difficult really.

For a second there I thought he was getting a 3 year, $20M deal, and I was thinking that's a massive steal for Philly... then I realized it's $20M per year... that's a nice haul for Santana.
