Or just accept the one where you are giving up two and getting one first...

It’s not illegal to have less than the max number of players.

That may be the dumbest thing I've ever read on TD and that's saying something.

All are terrible options if 24 hours is the time limit.

I know this might sound like a batshit crazy idea, but how about the penalty for trading into an illegal lineup during the offseason is that you can't make any adds/drops until you make it legal? Pretty sure this is enforceable by Fantrax.

If opening day comes around and the lineup is still illegal, in-season penalty applies and that team gets no stats for each day with an illegal lineup.

This would allow one to stash extra guys during ST and then decide who to drop come the start of the season, yes?

Ive been in all day meetings, Mardi Gras parades, golf trips, etc where I’ve gone half a day without looking at my phone or email. 4 hours isn’t long enough.

Yes, and that defeats the purpose of making owners make their rosters legal at the end of the mlb regular season, which we just passed last month.

Only if they acquired said players via trade.

And in the meantime their rosters would be locked, so no adding some hot-name prospect or someone that shouldn't have been dropped.

And if the trade happened before the draft, they'd have to get legal in order to add their draft pick.

So basically, if you trade into an illegal lineup, you can trade out of it, but your lineup is frozen until you either trade back legal or drop players to make it legal.

ETA: And any trade made with an illegal should be required to make it legal. You can't trade a 1 for 3... then another 1 for 3 and be sitting on 4 extra players. If a trade creates an illegal lineup, the next trade needs to make it legal.

Are yall trying to make rules to make people quit the league? Just dont allow moves if someones roster is illegal. If I have to go offshore or overseas last minute for an assignment I csnt always check and see if someone accepted a trade or not.

No shite. What happens if you send out an offer, go to sleep, and it's accepted and your lineup is illegal... you get penalized with a week of no transactions for having the nerve to sleep more than 4 straight hours? Or yeah, playing golf, working, whatever. That's retarded.

ETA: Not that I'll be sleeping 4 straight hours anytime soon.

meh I dont really like that but all I really need is a rule that everyone follows

if you going to be able to make moves w an illegal roster, so be it. just put it in writing so everyone knows they can do it

or if your team is locked, put it on paper

I guess I don't have an issue with a team trading into an illegal lineup and subsequently trading it back to legal.

I would definitely have an issue with a team making adds/drops (just drops are fine, duh) with an illegal lineup though, regardless of how it became illegal.

And that applies to being over the roster size limit, not filling all active positions, or having improper minors players.

For instance, if I traded away Realmuto and didn't have any active C, but I was working out a deal with someone else for another C, shouldn't I be able to make that move even though my lineup would technically be illegal in the interim without an active C? I shouldn't be able to pick up someone else (other than a C) in the meantime though, since my lineup would be illegal.
