i think this is because the NFL generally gets similar yardage/scoring totals week in, week out, so a TOTAL projection is pretty consistent. that doesn't show much for individual player projections. they could be randomly assigned to all players in projections to arrive at a similar total

so you are saying that they know brady will throw for 300 and then they divvy up yards between receivers and catches with that info.

okay, but how do they know brady will throw for 300?

and people only have one guy from each individual team making up a roster of 9.

SFP, I'm not saying that you should bet your life on yahoo projections, only that they are more reliable than a random owners beliefs. ie "I'll trade you hillis. He is an easy 1200 yards and 10 tds, i don't care that his projected is 705 and 5 tds."

Did you think yahoo projected Carson Palmer for 32 completions? I was sure that DHB would be a top 12 WR......projected 10.02 actual 7.30....diff 1 catch for 17 yards..he didn't get his feet down

should people buy my beliefs in his value?

This all comes back to the "fairness of trade proposals". I put together trades in which "yahoo" believes the trade will benefit both teams. Green/Green I call it, where we both take care of a position in which we are weak, and thus both project to score more points.

The offers I receive, are what are called Red/Green....I lose 60-100 projected points(RED), and they gain 60-100 projected points(Green)

These other owners claim that my Green/Green deal is me trying to frick THEM, and their RED/Green deal is a legitimate offer.....and I am fricking stupid for following yahoo projections.

So me showing them that the projections seem to fall in line, or at least that they are actually educated guesses......is just to help prove that they are not randomly generated crap numbers that no one should pay attention to, and that trade offers should for the most part be in line with a negligible difference between teams, and NOT these lopsided -80/+70 offers.

Yahoos projections for my team fricking sucked.

~10 points

colston fumble at the 1 was an 8pt swing for you. 6pt td vs -2 fumble

quantum jumps aren't by the .01 a WR TD is 7 pts(catch+td)....has a TD doesn't have a TD avg is 3.5 but can never be 3.5

Do we have to go over this again? Team projections =/= individual projections.

What you are arguing is that Player X is projected for 20 points, ends up getting 5 points. Player Y projected for 20 points, ends up getting 35 points. Add them together and average and you get 20 a piece for 100% accuracy. NOWAY!

shite, I knew Kash wouldn't respond to this point...

because you are answering your own question

Like with Colston and Rondo

he only scored 9 vs 14...does that mean that he's going to score 9 every week?

No he had a 9 and will have a 19 some other week this season to balance to 14 projected

but being that overall projections are legit, that the 50/50 chance that someone is higher/lower than projection means that it balances out to be near even.

if projections were off overall then there would be a significant slant higher or lower than projections.......and from statistics and forecast modeling +-5% is within acceptable limits.

which even then , I only asking that people use as guidance in evaluating trades for fricks sake.

again projections are for a season, even though they can be seen on a week/week basis

This is the only real problem I have with what you are saying. If that owner believes this, who cares? Just say no and move on. No reason to let it upset you.

Every trade that is offered to me, I go back and look at my own projections first, and make adjustments for anything that has since changed. I also check a few other sources, including Yahoo to see how the experts feel about the proposed trade. These othersources factor in, but none are a larger factor than my own thoughts.

I think most people have an issue with the fact that you use Yahoo like the Bible of fantasy football. If you want to run your team by that, no one has a problem with that. Just don't try to force others to do the same.

Answer me this then if you still think this is correct:

Player X projected - 20
Player X actual - 5

Player Y projected - 20
Player Y actual - 35

You are saying that yahoo is 100% accurate in this case.

SO MY QUESTION TO YOU- Do you still consider a 75% error in individual projections a good tool to project individual players (not talking about team projections here)

You deserve an award for this. Sums up pretty much everything we have tried to say in the past 100 pages

Depends on the individual offer. I'm not going to say it's a good offer just because Yahoo says so.

Again, I really don't think anyone has gotten upset at your offers. It's your reaction when they say no. If they think it's a laughable offer, just move on. If you don't like certain other owners chiming in on the offers (you've mentioned this), make them in private.

I'm not arguing against the way you run your team or the offers you make. I just hate to see you take it so personally when people say no. This is supposed to be fun, and frankly I enjoyed our banter this past week when we were playing each other. I want you to stick around and enjoy this.

By the way, this is coming from the guy that was probably second only to you in rejected trade proposals, and some of mine were probably pretty craptastic proposals also, but you have to start somewhere.

Tots,
When are you going to drop Welker so I can pick him up? It's obvious that Brady hates him now.

correct. I chime in bc you make them public. There is a reason why most owners conduct business off of this thread- so ransoms don't chime in
