he only led all Cathcers in OPS last year.

had he played a full season he prob would have been the top rated C last year.

if i remember right you said there were only 4 keepable catchers

i said there were more

i then pointed out you were keeping Abreu.

with that being said, I pointed out there were catchers that you didnt see as keepable that would equal or out produce Abreu. Catcher is a much rarer position, wouldnt you say?

that doesnt make sense to me. Maybe in your head you are telling yourself it does to convince you to keep Abreu, like gyno said.

the reward of keeping Soto is much better than Abreu. Im keeping Soto over him.

in 300 something ABs last year he hit 17 HR and almost 60 RBI. with the highest OPS of any C.

looked like he rebounded from the bad 09, where he had a bad oblique

Let's say Im one of the last ones to get a catcher, and I get stuck with John Buck. Is it really that much of a downgrade over Soto? Seriously.

Here are the projections:

Soto:
.8803 OPS
21 HR
65 RBI
55 Runs

John Buck
.7198 OPS
19 HR
54 RBI
46 Runs

For someone I could probably get in the 8th round this year.

Not when you factor in that each one will only log about 20 ABs a week.

if you think JOhn Buck repeats his career year, then sure

and if you want to play that game, Abreu is projected

85r/17hr/75RBI/12 SB/784

if we want to start talking about later round players to match production, i could prob find a few.

if you are comparing the 2, and they are getting the same amount of ABs, how is that not significant?

all things equal...that makes no sense.

Since we are talking projections..

Abreu
550 ABs
85 runs
17 HR
75 RBI
12 SB-CS
783 OPS

Venable
420 ABs
67 runs
16 HR
54 RBI
14 SB-CS
734 OPS

You could nab Venable in the 10th...

You should have listed Headleys projections...would have been clutch

ETA: they are fairly similar to Venables.

It's all about value, bro!

They are 3 keepers, nonetheless.

Sure it does. Catchers don't get as many ABs per week as position players, making their projected OPS less valuable.
