If Trump wins the popular vote, does Colorado have to cast their electoral votes for him??

That would be sweet indeed

Yes as I understand it.
Ok now I am not sure. As some have said it may not be in effect until it is implemented nationwide. I can’t see looking at the current system that CO would award the EVs to pop vote winner.

Na that compact only goes into effect when 270 votes worth of states have approved it.

I think someone said a bunch of these states won’t enact it until a majority of the states enact it. But that would be fucning hilarious to see Trump win 400 EV because of the popular vote.

Is there really a compact??
I did not keep up with that silliness so I am unfamiliar with the real status.
I don't understand any kind of "law" that depends on the preferred outcome of the action for it to be applied.
I don't understand how any sort of law like that could be constitutional.
Just wondering since I saw that Trump may well win the popular vote - I thought that was pretty much out of range for any party but democrats as long as Calif is the shithole garbage dump that it has become.

good - so it is not exactly a 'real' thing yet - that has always seemed so far fetched to me that it was laughable.
Wouldn't it have to be enacted as some sort of Amendment to the Constitution?
I cannot wrap my head around some of the Democrat silliness.

What's the rule, I'm not familiar

nor I - that is why I asked the question - mostly as a joke, but would really like to know the status of that piece of idiocracy.

It's called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
CA, OR, WA, CO, NM, MN, IL, NY, ME, RI, CT, DE, MA, NJ, HI, and MD have all signed it.
Wiki -NPVIC
if was in effect, Kamala would only have NH and DC. So 3 EV.

Sounds like it's only used when they want to use it

In theory it would work but the issue is that in practice it won't. The citizens of a state would revolt if their electoral votes went to the opposite candidate. So the odds of states backing out if push came to shove is close to 100%.

No, because they are cowards who will only put that plan into action when enough states, with 270+, electoral votes also do.

Just further proof that everything Democrats and liberals touch turns to shite.
Posted on 11/6/24 at 5:31 am to ChineseBandit58
No. Only went into effect if tha “pact” of states doing so reach 270 EV
Posted on 11/6/24 at 5:39 am to ChineseBandit58
Not sure, but hopefully it happens so the Supreme Court can shite down the obvious end around electoral college.

Well, if 270 EVs worth of states ever approve it, then the EC is no longer a factor. The popular vote winner would be President in every election from then on, unless demographic shifts render those states less than 270; and even then it would be almost a certainty.

But one thing is does say is that one state cannot interfere, participate, or influence another state. The case will be made this compact will violate that.
