That is your opinion. We have plenty of farmland in the rest of the country to make up for them. Half the population would leave to stay in the USA and that would actually include the film industry. California is rich because it is part of the USA, not the other way around.
The USA would be able to bankrupt the Republic of California in under a year, based off energy and water needs alone if they chose to.
Texas is probably the only state that could pull it off and it would be ugly there as well.
