Attention. It's all they want. They have no message or cause or principle. They just want constant attention.

Athletix, I wish I shared your positive outlook. I really do, but Republicans have shown no gumption since Gingrich. Ryan, McConnell are weak leaders. I don't want to be liked. I want to be right.

Unfortunately, we're in the last years of a Republican south. Blacks are increasing in Georgia & in the 2020 census, we will probably rise to at least 18 electoral votes by then. NC is doing the same, we only have a 5% advantage now. From where are these people coming? New York, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, Philadelphia. The Democrat demographics are geographically shifting south. Florida's about gone too.

Trump can't fix this. He's right, about how the establishment has sold us down the river. But it's the establishment with whom he has to work. And regrettably few of the Republicans supported him.

This liberal push wasn't strong 8 years ago, so it felt good to vote for Obama. The social climate now is much more hostile to the average white person, and thus they had enough and voted.

This was big for me. I actually wanted to give Obama a shot in 2008. Now the libs are openly hostile to straight white males. They chose BLM, political correctness, and Muslim apologists. I can't believe any white person could still vote Democrat, TBH.

This is partly why they lost. And they don't even realize it.

You're right, that guy doesn't want to hear about it. But he will hear about it because it's going to be forced down his throat. The socialism aspect is ripe for expansion. It's envy & entitlement.

The guy doesn't want higher taxes? Tough. We have to pay for their Medicaid, SNAP, etc. It affects the working guy because he just wants to work 50 hrs, have a home, & a nice life. But he won't be able to because of the debt, unfunded liabilities, & the ever-increasing budget.

It's going to bring us down.

It's going to bring the Democratic party down, and it was threatening to bring the US down.

The Trump election was able to spare that.

The hope for the Democratic party is this- about a year into Trump's presidency, it will be clear that he isn't an ultra-right fascist, he's a mainstream outsider who capitalized on mainstream frustration to seize the Republican party. If the Dems are smart, they won't cater to the reactionary crowd, they will try to improve on the Trump model; find a more likable mainstream outsider that the overall population can accept.
If they veer more to the left, they will only carry the Left Coast next time; I don't think New York (with the Wall Street influence) will vote a true Socialist in.

I both agree & disagree w/ you Scoob, & here's why.

It's not bringing the Democrat Party down, but it's going to move it further to the left because that's what the younger voters have been conditioned to want.

Electing Trump may delay, but isn't going to spare anything. We have too much debt, too many unfunded liabilities, too many service sector jobs, too many regulations. Those jobs in the Rust Belt are gone. If they come back, it'll be another decade because of negotiation, construction, then production.

The Democrats are smart, but their voters are sheep. Blacks haven't realized that Democrats don't enact practices that help them. Hispanics are following suit. They'll keep the northeast, but their Electoral College advantage is shifting to the south because of the blacks from the north moving here. They'll also keep the west coast.

This is how we're going to vote in a total Socialist. Because they're going to do so with the increased handouts that are going to enrich certain donors. This is the fascist (not Nazi-type) aspect of it, when govt controls corporations. It's already rolling & partly why the Clintons need to be in a court room for their Foundation antics.

It's not just the Democratic Party, it's the party system in general. Honestly Trump was a nuclear bomb on the party system. The Democratic party is utterly destroyed with no leadership, and Trump has a knife to the throat of the Republican party. We're fricked.

I totally agree. The Republican party will never be the same again. Hopefully, the democrats will probably go through the same pains, and eventually change throughout the next eight years, and become a legitimate party again, like the Republicans are currently doing.

I believe what we are seeing now is a new GOP forming. Because of Trump, I became a Republican.

It will either destroy it or it will continue to get worse. The liberal media will eventually stop with all this nonsense because most Americans do not want to watch this shite day in and day out and their ratings will drop. It drives me freaking insane to see these idiots pretend to care about something. That being said, the democrats are smart and know the electoral map is changing. Young people who have been raised to believe every word of the media as well as growing minority populations will make it easier for them to win traditionally red states. It is imperative that Trump and the Republicans that have not sold out make a strong effort to reach out to the new generation of voters and minorities in order to unite not only the vote but the country.

As long as we keep enabling the behavior, they'll keep doing it.
