Your car is your biggest force multiplier so use it, if they're not being violent slow roll through and gently push them out of the way, if they start attacking your vehicle (banging on it, trying to open the doors, throwing things at it etc) punch it. Be sure to keep control of your vehicle as you really don't need to go faster than 40 to effectively get away.

I did that once when I got lost in Houston and ran into a block party that started to surround the car fast. Hit the gas and luckily nobody got hit. Good odds I would have died otherwise based on what I saw. Thank goodness I didn't get shot anyhow.
