There’s only 1 opt out that has effected the season

Because it’s true
People are lumping in a fullback, 6th string runningback, a WR that may not have even made the roster, a guard that wasn’t going to make the roster, a practice squad level TE in to this bucket
Cannon has been replaced by a better player in Omenwu and most thought he might retire anyway, chungs play has dipped for the past couple seasons and Phillips has more than adequately filled that role
Only thing they missed out on was Hightower as they currently only have 1 off ball linebacker on the roster
The issues on the roster are not due to the opt outs, excluding Hightower. Simple as that.

They played the AFC and NFC WEST divisions that year.
A combined 45-83

Crennel went 10-6 in 2007 but yes, Belichick was the last real good coach the Browns have had

You seem very unhappy with Belichick.

Not at all I wish he would be better at targeting playmakers for the offense but there’s a ton of young talent on the roster to be excited for and I still think they will compete for the division/wild card berth as they figure out how to play offense
I just think the opt out thing is silly, and I said as much before the season.
If anything the opt outs have been beneficial to the Pats by giving them the cap space they may need to make a trade for an impact player offensively

Why is it silly..... you sound very selfish and but hurt over the Pats that opted out.

I fully supported those dudes opting out on this board what are you talking about
Cannon is a frickin 300 pound cancer survivor, more power to him not taking the risk
The others all had new borns they were concerned about so they opted out. Good for them. I frickin love Hightower, Cannon, and Chung. All three are integral parts of the second dynasty that was built and might all end up in the Pats hall of fame
None of that has anything to do with their impact on the roster for this season
It’s just a silly argument to be like “oh they had 8 opt outs they got decimated” without actually looking at the guys who opted out and who they were replaced by

After the Pats beat the Rams 2 years ago Belichick had coached in 11 out of 53 Super Bowls - 9 with the Pats and 2 as a coordinator with NYG - that's 25.5% of all SBs.
I'm no mathgician, but I'm pretty sure 11 of not 25% of 53.

quote:No worse than this bad organization/ ownership narrative you're putting forth for Belichick failures . Marty took over a 1-7 team & never had a losing season despite this poor oganization you claim . Marty had falling outs with every organization he has been with ( except the Chiefs) ,but he won.
of course its sounds like excuses because you have a narrative you want to put forth , You also don't seem to understand that things and people change over time or understand the reason why Marty left after 4 successful seasons
Marty took over the Chiefs who had 1 playoff appearance / 1 winning season in 18 years. He won there. Marty took over the Chargers 5-11 & 1 season removed from 1-15. Marty won there. Good coaches go to bad organizations all the time.
