Will this impact your decision of who to fly? I canceled my United flight to fly southwest. It was because of the schedule change, but I’m glad southwest is still keeping middle seat open.

Good for them. They have a business to run.

I thought American were the only dumbasses pulling this stunt. Interesting to see United follow suit. I’d be interested to see the number of reservations that switch.
I’d bet Delta and Southwest are licking their chomps right now. Southwest already isn’t filling a good number of flights with the limited capacity, but I’d be they do now.

I think this is why they’re mandating masks.
They’d can’t afford to fly empty planes. And the masks allow them to say, we’re doing something to minimize exposure, even as they pack people into those seats.
I’m not worried about the virus but I am still avoiding flying, because it just sounds so miserable right now.

This. Does anyone actually believe that tiny empty seat is making much, if any, of a difference?

I would book whoever is blocking the middle seat so long as schedules and pricing was in line. But not for fear of the Kung flu, but for the sake of not being 1” from anyone on a plane.

Right... you’re sitting in a metal tube with all those other folks...
It’s a Petri dish anyway

Good to know, thank you.
I’ve seen some horror stories from some airlines - apparently KLM has instituted brutal cost controls.

Doesn't do much good other than passenger comfort and state of mind. Wear your mask, try not to use the lavatory, and keep your hands sanitized and you won't catch the virus.
