NattyTigger please link the 56% completion percentage you keep repeating for Williams’ junior year. Since you keep using it as a silver bullet against Williams, please cite your source.

It is clear you don’t agree with Williams’ rating as the top QB in the class since you are found literally in every single discussion of him pissing on his ability. It seem you’ve made that your mission. Your disdain for him might lead to you cooking his numbers or using his soph stat for completion percentage to help prove your point. I say again you are the Bizzaro World Joe Burrow’s Buckeye Jeaux for Williams.

You never answered my question. Do you believe Nussmeier is a better prospect than was Brennen? If so, in what way?

I don't care about a 56% as a high school junior. I liked what I saw from highlights and that he has been very impressive at 7 on 7s among other passing events. Burrow increased his cmp% from 56% in his first year as a redshirt junior, to 76%. We have essentially two QB coaches at LSU now to help any of these guys improve.

Nussmeier is the son of a OC and QB coach. As far as his knowledge of the game goes, it should be pretty damn high. However, how much more can he improve? Nuss seems like he could come in and be an almost instant backup option for Brennan if others haven't progressed, but his upside is minimal. I think of Nuss like I think of Jake Fromm when he was in high school. He was one of the most polished QBs I'd seen that year. A guy that could start year one. Problem was his physical traits were meh and his upside was small.

I'm telling people Williams is a young Russell Wilson. I would be perfectly fine with getting Nuss, but when you have a legit chance to get an elite QB talent like Williams, you have to go all out.

I read it in an article a couple of months ago on the 247 sports website where it said that he passed for a whopping 19 touchdowns in 2019 and rushed for another 18 touchdowns, and had a passing completion percentage rate of just a little under 56 percent.

Now I read that probably a couple of months ago. Hence, I'm not about to go waste my freaking time trying to lookup an old article. Nonetheless, had I known that you would ask me for a link a couple of months later, I would have saved the damn link just for you.

Meanwhile, you're right, I don't assess him as being a quality QB. As when I watch his film, he is quite apparently a very good runner but at the same time, a very average QB. In fact, in my humble opinion, he is very overrated.

Furthermore, I have a right to state my own personal opinion just like you have a right to state your personal opinion. Yet, you don't see me going around and attacking you or anyone else, for that matter, as you have attacked me twice already for stating my own personal opinion. And now today you are even accusing me of cooking up his numbers. Damn son, are you related to him? Must be.

Meanwhile, I would like LSU to take him if he commits. Not because I think he can beat out Nussmeier because I don't think he can but because I'd like LSU to take two QBs.

I would say his commitment could help LSU attract some quality receivers. However, the state of Louisiana happens to be loaded with quality receivers. Hence, him committing to LSU I don't think would make any difference.

In addition, the reason I never answered your question is that this is the first time you have asked me that question.

In any event, the answer is yes I do. As I think Nussmeier is a very polished QB that reminds me a lot of Joe Burrow. As he is already rated higher than Brennan was at his highest and he also plays against much stiffer competition than Brennan played against as well. Not to mention, that I also believe his ratings will also continue to climb until signing day.

But nevertheless, I like his pocket presence, his quick feet, and his throws from the pocket and his throws on the run are all very excellent. I also like the fact that he's the son of a former NFL quarterback and current NFL quarterback coach.

Like Joe Burrow's upside was minimal, right?

Give me a freaking break! The kid is not even through growing yet.

Jake Fromm of all people. He doesn't look remotely similar to Jake Fromm as he is a far better thrower and has a stronger arm than Jake Fromm. Not to mention, that he also has far faster feet than Jake Fromm and his pocket presence is light years better than Jake Fromm's pocket presence ever was. Indeed, if he looks like anyone, he looks a lot like Joe Burrow. As that is what everybody says about him and that is also what he says the LSU coaching staff tells him as well.

Furthermore, being the son of a coach, exactly like Joe Burrow is as well, is also an advantage at the same time.

Meanwhile, the only reason why Caleb Williams is elite is that he is overrated and I'm by far not the only person saying it either. He is very good at running the ball, I'll give you that, but at the same time, he is a very average QB.

Moreover, he is very good at running the ball in high school. However, in college that will be a very different story. He won't be able to run the ball all the time as he does in high school.

As a JR 56% may not be a red flag. If he doesn't progress his SR season it may be a cause for concern. Narcisse was around 56% and continued to struggle in college. I think, without looking it up, that Burrow was in the 70% range his SR year of HS so the indicator was there for his accuracy. Max had horrible JR season accuracy, but made a jump to the high 60's his SR season so maybe Williams does as well. Finley improved, but not as much.

Lots of variables involved so numbers without additional data are of little value, but if you don't see progression form JR to SR I would be somewhat concerned.

I am not 100% up to date on all the arguments made but I don't feel like this is a good argument that "any" QB can make that type of jump.

Burrow was always a 70+% thrower through HS and in limited action in college until 2018. In 2018 he had to quickly learn a new system and try to learn how to play QB from under center in about 6 weeks. Not to mention he had zero familiarity with his surrounding pieces. These factors are what make Burrow's 56% completions the outlier, not the rule for him. Not to mention that an improvement like that is pretty much unheard of ever before and would be pretty impossible to replicate without similar circumstances.

I'm not saying other guys can't improve as well, I am just saying Burrow's vast improvement is not a good argument to use.

His receivers dropped a high percentage as well. This also affected the percentage difference.

Burrow's jump in completion % is completely unprecedented in the history of CFB. It won't happen ever again.

I'm not sure referencing QBs who entered the NFL 29, 49 and 50 years ago wrecks my present argument.
