Thoughts on this rifle

I've been looking at 308's and 7mm-08 quite a bit recently. I am thinking about going with the 7mm-08 due to recoil. I really like this gun with the 20-inch barrel. Thoughts?
Yes, I know it's on Bud's site but I can't find it in stock anywhere else.

I am not the one to talk to about this, but I recall the vanguard not being recommended around here. I may be 100% wrong though
ETA, listen to Carson, I was 100% wrong

the vanguards are fine guns. think they guarantee 1MOA too. 7mm-08 is a great cartridge.
buy with confidence.

Look at the Ruger American Predator.
I have one in .308 Extremely accurate and a very good trigger.
Not sure it comes in 7mm-08, though my 11 year old has shot it several times without it bothering him.

7mm-08 is great. It works on everything up to and including black bear. Vanguard is good. I think it's basically a Howa iirc. If it were me, I would spend a bit more and get a Tikka.

This is true.
They are great guns. I would spend $120 more and buy the barreled action (it is 22" though) and this Bells & Carlson stock. That would give you a pretty great setup.
But if that is too much more for about $70 more you could get this Hogue stock.
The only downside I see to the gun you posted is the stock is pretty crappy and would be the weakest point on the gun. Just like the "tupperware" stock on the Rem. 700 SPS, I changed that piece of shite out on my 700 and it cut my groups by more than half.
ETA: Just noticed that your link has the cerakote version of the gun. The action I linked is not. They offer the cerakoted action but it would be $100 more which you could probably find someone to cerakote it for about that much.
Hell just buy the one you found and if you don't like the stock you can always change it out and it would only cost you about $50 more than just buying the cerakoted action and the B&C stock from the start.

I would buy the B&C stock I mentioned above and pick up this action on sale. It would cost you $50 more than the one you linked. It is a .308 with the 20" heavy varmint barrel. If the recoil is too much in the 308 (it shouldn't be) shoot the reduced recoil loads from hornady, but truthfully with the heavier barrel the gun will have even less recoil (which weight shouldn't matter if you are hunting like most LA hunters in a box stand and not packing it).

I love Weatherbys - now - are they overpriced? Probably.
Are they overengineered? Definitely. I would have confidence in almost any of their rifles.

The Vanguard isn't really a WBY, but is a solid rifle. My son shoots one in a 257mag. No worries with .308 recoil. Same son started shooting a .308 at 7 years old and killed a couple pickup loads of deer with it.

You are talking about a Mark V, the Vanguard is a totally different gun built by Howa. Not even in the same ballpark.
BTW, I own 3 Mark V's (.270, 7mm WBYM, & .300 WBYM) and a Smith & Wesson 1500 (Howa in .280AI) that has a lot of work done to it. The S&W gets used occasionally but I pick up a Mark V Featherweight mostly (.270).
