Tell me about the zx5's. Why should I buy them and should I look at the 7's instead.

I have yet to meet a Srixon snob... we just love our sticks.

I haven’t hit the new line yet but I have the 585 and have hit the 785 and could game either. I went with the 5 series to give me a little more forgiveness on my off days. Can’t go wrong with either, imo.

I switched from PXGs to zx5s at the recommendation of this board. Probably the best equipment decision I have ever made.

IMO they're better in all categories but my favorite thing is the sound. There is this snap when you hit it flush that gives me teh feelz.

5s more forgiving
7s more workable.

It comes down to what works for you. I thought for surprise would be playing the 7s, but the 5s fit me batter.

Buy the 5’s for reliably straight ball flights and a clean appearance down at the ball. Look at the 7’s for sure. I did a combo set with 4, 5, and 6 in the ZX5’s, and sometimes I wish I would have gotten a ZX7 6 iron.

Srixon ZX is an underrated iron. But be careful, they’r not for everyone. The V sole is really designed for a specific player and it def doesn’t work for everyone. I’m a steep player which these soles were supposed to be good for and the results were mixed. They do feel great and the zx7 is great at address. That’s probably the only one I’d personally play. The only reason you should buy them is because they’re fitted right for you.

i have the 785 short irons/ 585 long irons mixed bag and love them. 585 are definitely more forgiving but it hard to beat the feel when you hit it pure with the 785.

Just in a fitting bay. Home course is Beau Chene but only hit them in the bay.

Thanks for the information.

I play PXG’s now and played the 790’s before them. The courses I play regularly are GCOH, Black Hawk CC, Squire and Memorial Park.

More of a picker of the ball with about 3 degree down angle on strike slightly inside to out.

Want a forged club that feels like a game improvement club (distance wise) that is nice to look at:

Find a Club Champion type of outfit that has every head and shaft options currently available fo all manufacturers. I gave up on trying to play my Mizuno MP-52s because I don’t have the swing/game for that type of Iron. I went to Club Champion with an open mind but I was leaning towards a Mizuno JPX or Pings. After hitting everything possible the best fit for me was the ZX5s

ZX5 is exactly that club.

ZX5 is for you but I would hit both.

They're also VERY responsive for what they are, I get an insane amount of bite on mine hitting into the greens, even on the mid/long iron clubs.

That being said, I recently played with a set of borrowed T100s and absolutely loved the feel on the short irons so a ZX7/ZX5 combo may be in my future.

Same thing at CC for me..

Pings felt terrible to me. I guess some people love that feel but even the pure hits felt like toe misses/block to me.

Mizuno's were like an OT 8, wasn't sure if it could get better... Then I hit the Srixons....

I also liked whatever Honma's he had me on but they were stupid expensive.

I have zX7s Gap thru 5 iron and 4 iron in the zx5. They are so sweet. Great forgiveness. Very long. And sound amazing. My 7 iron carry in my 712 mb of 165 went to 185-188 in the zx7. Nutso. Slightly stronger lofts, but man they feel amazing.

Zx5s are great as well. I just wanted a thinner top line as I went down the set. ZX7s still have a ton of forgiveness. Best forged iron on the market right now.

Beauty is on the eye of the beholder when it comes to irons.

I have played Pings for 30 years and never worried about feel. I have owned Callys, Mizuno, Srixon X5/X7 and TM. They all feel the same to me on center hits.

I have never worried or put any thought into a driver's sound either.

I didn't get along with the beveled sole of the Srixons and I think the 585s would suit me better.

Forged irons are pretty when new and Pings look the same after 5 years of use.

Totally agree. Not bashing Pings at all, I love the look as well, just didn't work for me on feel.

I'm also a hack.

I have both. Do a blended set. Do 4-6 ZX5, 7-aw ZX7. Love them.

ZX7s were a game changer for me. I feel like I am cheating playing with them they are so forgiving. I thought the affection for Srixon clubs was a little weird until I hit them. I’m okay with being weird if it means playing a club I love.

I am not a snob. I think if anything others are snobbish to us.

Srixon snobs?

I always viewed Srixon as a golf brand you find in Walmart ... that has made HUGE strides lately to be premier. And some people have bought in and have found the equipment to work for them immensely. But most people don’t view them as such.

I would not call that a snob

I would think Titleist and PXG are the brands you’re looking for
