And yet I still rather be in NUFC position than Arsenal with fricking KROENKE.

I agree, but he cares about money and getting relegated is going to be a massive monetary hit for him. He let us get Willock on loan last year because we were sliding to the bottom.

I think a fear is that Ashley made as few moved as possible because he's sure the arbitration case will end up in his favor and the sale will go through to PIF. Since the decision is expected in early 2022 he could spend minimally to increase personal profits from the sale. He won't care if Newcastle is relegated because he will have gotten his money and won't have to deal with the consequences.

Things will be much worse if the sale isn't approved.

The Saudis withdrew their bid so its not like they must buy if Ashley wins arbitration. They aren't dumb enough to pay him 300M for a relegated depleted team, but he may think that.

From the admittedly limited research I’ve done, if anything it’s much more likely to go the other way

Oh I have all the faith that this will blow up in Mike Ashley's face. The problem is that he doesn't think it will.

2/19ths through the season and the Magpies have secured one point. CR7 scored a brace in his return to the club where it all started. Joelintin has yet to score on the season. This team will be battling Arsenal to see who will qualify for relegation first.

Still support the crest on the front.

Will Mike Ashley finally pull the trigger and sell the club?

YES!

Will Steve Bruce survive the season?

Hell No!

Can Joelinton get to double-digit goals in this year's campaign?

Don't care anymore

Can Joe Willock be the savior we desperately need?

Maybe, we'll see.

Will the Magpies be competing for tGoatship title next season?

If they do, heads will roll.

Can DS and myself make this thread go a full season?

I've never left the bandwagon, just lost steam from time to time. Time will tell if new ownership can keep gas in the wagon.

In all seriousness I'm not particularly thrilled MBS bought the team. I'm over the moon that Mike Ashley took the cash and that Steve Bruce will be an immediate change out. However, getting comfy with the Saudis is problematic.

*EDIT* Yes, I know that MBS did not technically buy the team and PIF provided sufficient proof that the Kingdom is not in charge or influences the public group.

Saw a funny Reddit post that showed Newcastle after the next signing period.. did the lineups like you'd see in an international match while they do anthems:

Mo Salah, Benzema, Messi, Haaland, Son Hyeung-Min, etc.

Why? Khashoggi was a political operative that chose the wrong prince to support. I'm not going to condone killing the guy but middle eastern politics are different and the Saudis generally support the USA. Khashoggi article

Who should we buy first? We need to add three in January minimum: center back, defensive midfielder, striker.
