Waiting for the what about their academic rankings crowd

Most higher ed administrators don't give a rats arse about rankings. But universities that have the title "R1 research institution" or "Land-Grant" university are seen as being a cut above the rest of the national collegiate field.

FYI, LSU is a R1 and Land Grant University so if this SEC thing doesn't work out, we always have the BIG10 as a fallback

TCU, Baylor, and Tech all seem like better options

I just don't get these. Maybe, maybe Texas Tech because they seem like a bigger "brand" than TCU and Baylor. I'm 46 years old, and TCU and Baylor (athletically) were the equivalents to Louisiana Tech, Tulsa, Southern Miss, etc. for the overwhelming majority of my life. They've had recent success, sure, especially Baylor in basketball, but they aren't premier programs.

Iowa State currently brings a decent football team and a basketball program that is capable of being consistently solid.

ISU is a one year wonder in a COVID year. Lets pump the brakes on them being a "decent" football program. They lose Campbell and they are right back to where they started as one of the worst P5 programs.

The bball team just went winless in the Big 12.

Don't understand the love affair with ISU. If they are such a catch, why didn't the SEC scoop them up?

Why wouldn't the Big Ten want Iowa State? They are becoming better than Iowa, who they have in football and basketball.

Wait, what? ISU basketball won 2 games last season and was 0 for forever in conference play. Iowa basketball was a season long Top 10 team.

Iowa football has beaten ISU football the last 5 meetings and has a commanding lead in the series record and is also a perennial Top 25 team. ISU football has had one good Covid induced season where they managed to still lose to Louisiana. Not LSU, freaking Louisiana, at home.

By what metric are they becoming better than Iowa?

Nobody wants the Baptist rapists

I’ll never understand grown men anonymously calling an entire group of young kids rapist years later after everything that’s cons out has shown the opposite.

When there was no evidence and no one went to jail (maybe one kid who wasn’t on the team at the time but even his conviction got overturned).

It’s a sad, sad depiction and most likely a window into the unsatisfying nature of your real life. Truly pathetic.

Me to. I know the train has left the station and it's never coming back but I do miss 70's and 80's college football. It was a golden era but it's gone for good now

Questionable, but plausible.

Would make way too much sense.

Probably because they're nowhere near the Southeast...

Becoming better than Iowa? LOL the Hawkeyes have won the last 5 games and ISU was 2-21 in basketball last year. One year of pre-season hype doesn't change the fact that historically they are on the worst P5 programs.
