quote:YES! OF COURSE! Fan interest = School exposure = Ratings = increased Ad Revenue (BECAUSE of the fan interest) from higher Advertising rates which is where they make a shitload of money!

The Fans (of both teams) LOVE this game
You think the SEC, the schools and ESPN really care about that??
So, you don't think the SEC, the schools and ESPN really care about that??

quote:Excellent point about the balance not being static! This year Gumps would get 2 programs pretty much in disarray and one who's in, well...just arrayed in it's normal below average state. But at some point don't you have to expect Auburn and Tennessee to become competitive? Auburn will play Gump physically tough any year even without a chance in hell of winning.
Same and stronger argument can be made with bama in the Auburn, Vols and Vandy pod. Ole Miss is better than Auburn this year. Mississippi State is better than the Vols probably for awhile due to NCAA violations and Vandy perpetually sucks.
And the balance is not static. It gets better or worse each season. IMO Arkansas being in the pod with LSU makes more sense than aTm.

If you were in high level SEC meetings when this was discussed then thanks for the valuable information. If you read this on Tiger Droppings then who knows.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that it should be that way no matter what. Whether it be Texas asking for shite or A&M scared of Texas either way they want them in the conference then they should have to play in their area. Now is the time the SEC has to fix the dumb way the divisions are already made up. Geographically it should be that way with both of them together with Missou and Oklahoma. But like I said elsewhere I seriously doubt that Texas and Oklahoma want to be in the same thing.
And no, it doesn't matter who wants who in or out. They should be in the same pod (for reasons previously stated) playing every year.

Agreed. It's virtually clear the TAMU AD doesn't want them in the SEC. Keeping them in different pods somewhat protects TAMU's interests.
I think this is very unlikely. If they are in the SEC you can bet that A&M will want to play them as beating them is the best way to distinguish themselves.

Disagree. I really do not believe either one cares how the alignment falls. A&M will not be happy they are here, period. They will play every two years, which is more then the fans have now. TX will not have the power in the SEC that they have in the Big-12 (10). Will be interesting to see how the SEC deals with the Longhorn Network & it’s revenue.

atm should be happy about. Now they won’t be singing “goodbye to Texas University” exclusively to out-of-state schools who could care less.

e_aTm_e is scared they will be OU & UT slam piece again, they will beg to be excluded from Pod or go to PAC-1x

Their entire identity has been built on being the only texas school in the best league for the past decade. It was ripped away from them this week.

Nice try, A&M fan OP.
You guys are pretty good at saving face tactics. I give you that.

Christ, what an idiot. In the future, try not to make stupid comments about people/things you know nothing about. But by all means, keep combing that over. Nobody---especially women---can tell there's no hair under there! Impressive Zepplin lyrics too. The babe's must flock to you... And hey, it's obvious you just wanted to look like Robert Plant but when did you stop putting the sock down your pants before you head out to the convenience store for supper?

Texas has always schemed and manipulated to get their way, and did so in any way they could. Ask anyone that was around for the old SWC, and just look at what they tried to do to the Big 12.
HUGE difference is that those two leagues needed Texas and their money. The SEC certainly does not. Texas can throw whatever fit they want in the SEC and it’s not going to matter. The SEC does not need Texas and does not care what Texas thinks they are entitled to. The time of Texas being a big dog are over (unless they stay in the Big XII)

Y’all do not know what you are getting into.
I watched Texas destroy the SWC and now it's trying to kill the Big 12. Why would ANY conference want that cancer in their league?

The question isn't whether A&M wants to play Texas or not. It is a question of having permanent games with schools from other divisions/pods. There is no way this works out and gives equal scheduling to all teams.
