I love this idea...every game means more, not just the big games. I think everyone will like it when it starts two seasons from now

Right, everyone who is saying that the regular season will mean less is looking at it from the perspective of an undefeated team. Yeah, if you're an undefeated team, regular season games will mean less, if you're Bama or Clemson the regular season is probably irrelevant now. It's such a narrow view of this. After 7 games, why should a 5-2 Texas or Iowa team care about the rest of the season? The likelihood of them making a 4 team playoff is very slim. In the new scenario, those teams still have a legit chance to make the playoff, therefore their regular season games matter more. So, while a late season matchup between Bama and Auburn might mean a little less, the rest of the season for a team that isn't undefeated will mean so much more.

A ton of people across this country feel the CFB season is a pointless exercise simply because there are teams that technically qualify for the championship that would never get a shot even with an undefeated season.
This has been a big sticking point for me in complaining about the current system.

It will also likely broaden the interest of those who are already fully engaged in their team. You don't think if LSU is sitting at #5 and comfortably in the playoff, that fans won't be more interested in the games that will determine the #12 spot, compared to now? That's in addition to any games impacting the top 4 spots, which would already be of interest in today's format.
I actually don’t like this side of it as much. For the p5 teams, every week of conference play had a playoff-ish vibe to it. Now that they’re adding 6 potential “mulligan” teams (instead of usually just one, which was already too many), it’s going to be nearly impossible to eliminate a lot of big programs during the regular season. While that’s good for keeping a larger number of fanbases engaged, it’s bad for making individual games more consequential.
In my opinion, they should have only expanded to 8 spots with 2 at large bids or had auto bids for all conference champs with only 2 at large spots. With 6 slots, prepare for a whole lot of rematches.
Obviously, as an LSU fan, I hate rematches, but maybe it won’t be such a bad thing once I get used to it.

I'll make our argument better for us.
Think of it like this, the teams like clemson and bama still have a meaningful season because they will be fighting for that 1st round bye that will take 1 loss or less to get sometimes

Yall are forgetting about the byes that will be fought for

I know, it’s wild NFL teams don’t lose to avoid getting a bye.
Considering everything but the super Bowl is hosted by the higher seed, this makes little sense.

The Texas-OU game in October used to mean the world, and an example of the exceptional nature of regular season college football.
Now, increasingly… not so much.

I hope it fails in committee.
6 at most.
4 best p5 champs
undefeated G5
else 2 best ranked remaining
3 v 6
4 v 5
1 plays worst seed survivor.
