High School Lifting program

Off season for high school basketball team. They are lifting 4 mornings a week Mon-Thur.
Everyday they are lifting heavy and at least 2 leg exercises each morning. I don’t know enough about programs but sure seems like that’s a bit much, maybe not. After about 6 weeks couple guys started having a few injuries. Maybe I’m behind the times lol. Any thoughts?

Yeah dial it back. Heavy lifting 4 days in a row won't give them any time to recover. Give them some rest days between lifts. Prioritze technique first, especially with the freshmen. Focus on rotational exercises and explosive movements

Forgot to mention this is with the schools strength and conditioning coach so I have zero say in the matter. Just never heard of no rest days or some sort of split program.

Yeah, your son and his pussy teammates should stop lifting for sure.
Replace their weight room time with a steady dose of Fortnite and some sugary snacks.
They will win state for sure!
*Stop being a pussy helicopter dad and let his coaches coach as long as no one dies.

I’d need to see their exact programming to form a true opinion. Jeff Nippard has a good video on YouTube about doing full body training 5 days a week. Obviously killing yourself each day would be detrimental, but the S&C coach hopefully has a proper plan for them.
Ask the players this:
Are they getting 8-9 hours of sleep? Avoiding junk food? Eating enough protein? Eating enough calories with high nutrient foods? Using good form when lifting? Refraining from extra exercise when sore or fatigued?

Cool thanks. I was just curious. Had never heard of any programming like that. They have to track calories and report those. I know I stress sleep at our house.

And immediately your opinion isn’t worth a single shite. Do you know why doing heavy leg lifts four days straight is a bad thing? Do you know anything about stimulation and recovery? How about sports specific training protocols? No? Then shut the frick up.

Like someone already said, we really need to see the program before we can give you a good opinion. Are they doing heavy squats everyday? Because that’s not proper training. Injuries really shouldn’t happen, but it’s not impossible. I don’t want to just start bashing the coach and not know what his program looks like.
I train 5, sometimes 6 days per week, but I have a designed program. High school kids are novices in the gym, so training 4 days each week is not bad at all. It really boils down to the design of the program, which we don’t know.

I would have to see the exact program to form a good opinion and in general would prefer a 2 day on 1 off 2 on for the 5 day week. But there is nothing wrong with getting it in while you can.
Lifting heavy could mean a million things. What % you calling heavy? Is that just your son saying it's heavy?
In general younger athletes can handle way more volume and intensity than you think especially if eating and sleeping correctly.
I prefer the atg method especially for basketball but in general almost every athlete at the high school last muscle mass and strength. They need that more than anything to build athleticism so lifting heavy 4 days a week is not that big of a deal. shite most HS athletes can handle lifting heavy 6 days a week if done correctly especially if rotating the lifts.
You took offense to the helicopter dad comment but in some ways you are guilty of that. But most of us are as parents, it's the nature of being a parent and wanting the best for our kids.
You can post the programming and we can give a better opinion. But best thing to do is make sure he is getting 200g protein a day snd sleeping 8 hours a night while eating in a caloric surplus. Do this those things and most things will take care of themselves.

Oh and lifting heavy 4 days a week is better than lifting only 2 times or not lifting at all.

It’s also the offseason, so training will be pretty intense. Or it should be.
