For those that have had covid, how soon in did you lose your sense of taste/smell? I've had the virus about four days now and just today lost my sense of taste and smell. How did it go for you? And how long did you lose it for?

Other than this, coupled with a nasty sore throat, it hasn't been too bad.

Fwiw, my employee was experiencing nasal congestion last Thursday, and it turned into loss of taste and smell on Saturday. Still has neither. So 2 days after initial symptoms.

4 days for me but taste and smell is still off.

Taste about 60% after 2.5 months smell about 30%. Still can’t smell my own farts or any bad smells. I can smell strong smells but have to put it right up to my nose.

That was about the way mine was. 3 or 4 days after getting some mild body aches. Lasted about 3 weeks.

I haven't had it, but from what I hear it is all over the board. Some never lose it, some lose it for weeks, some have a partial loss. Durations can be days or weeks (or longer). It really is different for everyone.

Lost mine for almost 3 weeks.

Fl dept of health said there have been cases of as long as 6 months.

It’s very weird and the flu is much worse than COVID.

I’m in over 3 months now. Taste and smell are partially back. Hard to describe, but I burn a lot of crap in kitchen these days.

I never fully lost my taste and smell. Probably lost about 70% 3 or 4 days in. That was about 3 weeks ago. Probably back to about 80% now.

I had the horrible sore throat for about a week. That and the horrendous body aches was the worst part of it.

I just started losing taste/smell today. 2-3 days after symptoms started.

I just have a partial loss right now and it sucks.

Thanks to all that have responded. Yeah, the loss of taste is the most frustrating aspect of all this, which I wouldn't have guessed going into it. It's one of those things you have to experience before you realize how odd it is. You feel the texture of food and spicy dishes still register, but the complete lack of taste is off putting.

Had it in July, never lost taste. Smell is about 70% and i can't smell at a distance anymore. Some things i can't smell at all. It's very weird.

I had it a little over 2 months ago and didn't think I lost taste or smell. Then a few weeks ago I opened a big jar of minced garlic to make jambalaya and sniffed it and couldn't smell a thing. I thought I bought a bad jar for second before it dawned on me. duh

All of my symptoms were mild. I ran a low grade fever for about 36 hours, starting on a Friday morning til Saturday evening. On the following Tuesday, lost about 95% of my taste and smell for about 48 hours because on that Thursday, it started coming back and by that weekend, I was back. I never had the fatigue. The worst side effect was a severe back ache. That lasted about 1 1/2 weeks. But I'm good now I was extremely lucky. I had a cousin and his wife both pass away from it. And I just found out yesterday that another cousin's husband just died from it. My wife never got it. My daughter did some research and found out that if you have a blood type of "A" or a spinoff, odds increase of getting it. Type "O" has the lowest chances. Good luck for a speedy recovery.

Mine has been almost identical. I'm 3 weeks from first symptoms.
