It’s been about 25 years since I was there, but Zorba’s was an absolutely amazing restaurant

Well if it’s been 25 years you missed the 15 years that they left and went back to Greece. They came back about 6-7 years ago and opened a new one on Essen. Polina is the Chef and runs the kitchen and Dinos her husband runs the front just like before and they are really doing it right.

We ate there Friday night and I had a speckled trout with a white bean compote and orzo that was very well done. And they are doing their own pita bread which is phenomenal. My favorite restaurant at the moment. He is getting some really nice wines in now as well.

The fried calamari was more batter than calamari. Had the veal piccata which was too salty. But that place is always busy so I guess they're doing something right.

I love DiGiulio's for a lot of reasons. It was our first date nearly a decade ago, the atmosphere is like no other in BR, the staff are all top notch.

But I do find that every entree I've had that wasn't a red sauce dish has been underwhelming. The calamari was great last time I had it, though. Didn't have batter issue.

Zorba's is awesome. So many things I still want to try, but the lamb meatballs are the best I've ever had from any restaurant.

Nino's reminded me of a "nice" Italian joint we ate at in a strip mall in the suburbs of Denver. Need I say more?

Uhh just because Nino's also happens to be in a strip mall? Did you even try their food?

Their saganaki cheese that they light on fire and their dolmades (grape leaves) are both awesome.

I do miss their old location circa 1998 where Louisiana Lagniappe is today.

Dinos also had his own restaurant off Old Hammond Hwy and Sherwood Forest years ago called Dinos bar and grill

Louisiana Lagniappe is great.

Not that it’s bad, but little village is just alright for the price to me.

The steakhouse downtown is terrible and very expensive.
The food at Ruffino's (RIP) was no bueno, but the scene was fun.

Nino’s rocks! It is always good. Although we get out for under $120 even with a modest bottle or couple of glasses of wine.

Zorba’s is great again also after reopening when the owners moved back from Greece. It really is very good and consistent and under $120 for meal and wine.

I forgot about this one. Put Lagniappe at the top of my list. Never understood the attraction to this place.

You have to know what to get, I guess. I have had a blah meal there, but it is rare. They do the best fried oysters in town, so add some on your salad and then order the fish en papillote or the tournedos or one of their specials if it sounds good and you will enjoy your meal.

The Cypresian food is great nonetheless!
