Who all has done one and what have been your long term results?

It's the only stick in the bag that gets used every hole, and I am wondering if it's worth it.

TIA

Absolutely worth it.

Find someone with a SAM Lab or something equivalent in your area. You would be shocked to find out that you might need a completely different head and hosel or an x-stiff shaft with 2* of loft.

I did it and immediately felt more confident.

I'll get downvoted for this, but find a putter, use it, learn it, and don't change it. It's the last club in the bag that needs fitting. Never get the Dechambeau putter either. They're dumb and gimmicky.

The putter is also the only club in the bag that is a flat face and not swung like a normal club. Every putter comes down to line selection, speed and consistent contact. Realistically, a putter doesn't shave strokes with the club alone. My first putter was a $20 putter brand new 15 years ago. I upgraded it 2 years ago and it didn't save any strokes. It looks cooler, and has a softer face, which required re-learning speed control.

Putting fundamentals are what save strokes. Not the putter itself.

I got one and they changed my degree and face balance. Felt more confident immediately as well.

But if I get fitted I won't get to constantly change out putters lol. I enjoy buying & trading putters every couple months. Currently alternating between a Bettinardi Queen B #10 & Studio Stock 28 Slotback.

Premium putters hold their value really well and it's easy to sell/trade without losing money

I don’t disagree with you, but sight lines, neck styles, lofts, etc could expedite 15 years of leaning to putt confidently.

I have a putter I love now, but don’t feel like it sits square for short putts. Downhill putts give me fits because of this. Could a fitting be useless? Sure. Or it could show me that my eyes gravitate to something else.

Appreciate the feedback.

Got fit for a SIK DW 2.0 C series face balanced putter at club champion here in virginia. Also went with a BGT stability shaft and a ping pistol grip. Got fit on SAM lab putting technology . Very cool to see how different putters affect your stroke and why some work and some don’t. The SIK ultimately worked for me due to its descending loft technology. Essentially the loft is higher on the club face for those who hit down on it, and lower loft at the bottom for this who hit up on it. Worked best for me since i have a forward press, hit the ball high on the face, and need more loft there. The stability shaft felt better as far as speed control goes. The grip was just my preference. Without changing my stroke at all this putter felt significantly better and the data on the SAM lab definitely reflected that. The other putters that were close were a Bettinardi and Scotty. Data wasn't as good for the Bettinardi one and i didn't like the look as much. My fitter said it was toss up between the Scotty and the SIK. Didn’t like the Scotty as much, and i currently game a Scotty, so went with the SIK. Very excited to get it back in the bag.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m really interested in a fitting.

I’d go anything with tech in it over a Scotty. I do like the look and feel of the X5 though.

Leek know how the Sik works out for you.

I got fitted for a putter at Club Champion last week on a SAM system.

Great experience. I have an odyssey mallet putter right now and I hit it ok, but I have trouble with longer putts and it just feels like a lot of work to control it, which leads to inconsistencies in my putting game. My overall SAM score was 76% and the guy said that's really good, anything over 75% is tour level. This is a little surprising, but I do catch fire sometimes with my putter, but distance control is always a big issue for me.

It recommended a mallet, and I tried a bunch and the TM Spyder was just so smooth and i went with that. He also shortened up my putter and changed lie and it felt so much better standing over the ball. Also love the slant neck i got.

I just felt way more comfortable over the ball and confident when striking putts, I probably made 15 in a row. Now we'll see when I'm on the course, but it was definitely worth it in my opinion.

Now i didn't have a lot that was wrong so, i didn't get the full experience of maybe switching out a putter that was terrible for my putting stroke, but still felt worth it.

Rob Noel has one at the academy, I plan on getting on it sometime this year. Everyone who has been on a SAM loves it.

You can putt with anything, but some putters are better for you than others based on stroke, eye dominance, lie, loft, etc. If you were on tour, you'd get fit and you'd ultimately get to the point of figuring out what sight line, if any works best for you.

Michael Breed had a video on his Instagram a while back where he goes through all of his putters. Instagram Link it's crazy to see the small, subtle changes he has made to the putter over the years.

So you could spend months/years fitting your stroke to your putter OR you could get fitted and get a putter that is made to fit your stroke, height, body posture, etc.

hmmm

Yup. Got my fitting last year on a SAM. My stroke was consistent with every swing, which included the clubface being 1 degree open at impact every time.

Closed putter 1 degree and off I went

I just don't understand why for the price of a round of golf, AT MOST, you could get the exact same data pros get on the club you need to be the most precise in your bag instead of making it that much harder on yourself.
