I think Pesci was trying to do more of a Chicago accent (Casino was about guys from The Outfit, not the Five Families) and that came out in a few words. I mean, he already had a strong resemblance to Anythony Spilotro, but the Chicago accent is tough for non-natives. Frank Culotta was on set trying to help them with correct, Chicago Outfit jargon, but had no experience/skill as an actual dialogue or accent coach.
Deniro, for all of his chops as a method actor, didn't change much from his regular manner of speaking. He did try to mimic some of Lefty Rosenthal's mannerisms, but not speech so much.

No. Jar-Jar sucked and was utterly unnecessary. Stones character was a real person. I found the dinner scene very good with her loaded and Sam cursing her. Scene WAS carried by DeNiro but she played well off of it. I am not trying to say she is great in the movie, but she did not ruin the movie for me. Seems she did for many on here when we talk Casino.

I don't agree with any of this at all. The ensemble nature of Casino has a lot of great, throwaway performances (Rickles, King, L.Q. Jones, Joe Bob Briggs, Marty's mom). Lost in that is, IMHO, Deniro and Pesci were past their prime, but just past it. At times during the film, they seemed back on top.
Marty seems to have consciously given them background narrations because it worked so well for Liotta in Goodfellas. While it wasn't a bad choice, I didn't find either as good as Liotta's, despite my rating both of them as better actors.
But Stone went above and beyond - particularly on the front lawn scene. That was the entire basis of Pileggi getting Marty to do the film - a news article about that domestic squabble. Marty found people who knew the parties involved (not the least of whom was Frank Cullotta) and some who were even neighbors of the Rosenthals and witnessed part or all of the actual event. Everyone familiar with the real events gives kudos to the authenticity of Stone's performance (AFAIK).
Stone held her own opposite Deniro and Pesci and that isn't easy to do.

I like A Bronx Tale a lot as well as One A Time In America that was previously mentioned. But, I just happened to watch Goodfellas and Casino together when I started the thread.

Michael Francese has a youtube channel or two and he rated mob movie performances. He said his favorite was Pesci. Basically said every crew and or family had that guy and everything that came out of Pesci's mouth was what those type of guys said.

A more recent movie with the same feel as these movies is American Hustle which is another future “classic”.

But David Ferrie was from Ohio - I don’t think Pesci was trying to put on a Southern/New Orleans/Cajun accent in JFK. It was a good casting decision bc Pesci sorta looks like Ferrie - just like the way the make-up department made Jones look like Clay Shaw - that was pretty good too

and that's the scene that makes me LOL the most she's so bad. Yelling and screaming hysterically =/= good, and i don't care if it was what the real character was like or if that scene was what really happened. Its like Jerry Springer level hysterics gold for unintentional comedy and that's about it.

Exactly, the rest of the cast is great throw in Dick Smoothers and Kevin Pollack

When it came out, there was a television series called "Wise Guy". The book Goodfellas was based on was also named "Wise Guy." The original working title was "Wise Guy".
But, Scorsese changed it to Goodfellas, in large part because of the TV series.
I've never liked the title "Goodfellas". Scorsese should have kept the title as "Wise Guy" or "Wiseguys".
