With Ty Lue ranking as the early favorite to replace Rivers with the Clippers

After a productive Wednesday of talks with Sixers, Doc Rivers has emerged as a serious candidate in process to hire a new coach, sources tell ESPN. Rivers left town after meeting with ownership and GM Elton Brand. Mike D’Antoni remains other prominent candidate in search.

Does any sport retread coaches more than the NBA?

NFL in the past has been as bad. That’s sort of changed a little in recent years.

Players league. When you have coaches like doc and mike who have coached on the national team and been around these stars and have their respect, that is the way to go w a star laden team. Managing egos/relationships is by far the most important part of an nba coach job. many have failed. Best to go with the guy who you know can do it. that is why Lue was by the most coveted assistant. That is why Atkinson got run from the Nets. He had no issues when the team was a bunch of role players, but when they got stars he was outta there quick.

This hasn’t been entirely true in recent coaching hires.

Mike didn’t fail. people like you who are championship or bust are the reason why some players resort to go and make super teams. You are part of the problem.

Silas Jr. I don’t think any of the existing Big name coaches will agree that daryl gets to hire the assistants with so many other openings. Also you gonna have to have a coach who will be willing to keep the same style of play on offense.

Realistically what does doc rivers bring to the Sixers?? Is he going to shake the roster up or will he be such a presence they will respect him. Or he could fail miserably.. one thing he isn’t used to coaching is lazy players. All his superstars have had killer work ethic

Both Doc and Lue have championships and multiple finals appearances.
