On my bike I have a gun rack with rubber to carry my gun/ bow. Obviously there’s a risk of a rattle moving the sites. Then get a good backpack straps for a stand or whatever on your back.

WTF do you live there?

I fricked up and I am in the process of correcting it. I was offered a very lucrative contract to come to the PNW and I was greedy....but I am correcting that mistake as we speak. With any kind of luck at all I will be back in the SE within the month. There ain't enough money in the PNW for me to live here again...I will no doubt make trips for work to the area again but I will not ever make the mistake of buying property or living in the area again. It is a great area if you have never lived anywhere else and know what right looks like....but if you have you know immediately this shite ain't close to right....

I haven't ever used it to actually hunt but I have a friend who has an ebike and I tried pulling my 13 foot gheenoe across the yard on the same trailer I pull it down the road on and without the trailer and it did it fine. I don't think it would jump stumps and blast through 3 foot deep ruts but a logging road or a national forest road it would handle with ease. I am convinced it could pull a game cart converted to a decoy trailer for field hunting without any problems. This was a high end mountain bike....I think he told me it cost around $3K but I may be wrong.

Ebikes are for women, real men ride single speeds.

Yes and in the right conditions a cart is fine. Buy a good bike cart for kids and modify it. You don’t want to pull anything else. Kids bike carts are meant to be fast and easy, the other carts are meant to be rugged and whatever else and don’t pull as well.

Carts are not that easy to pull and their main problem is if you are going on an off road trail it’s not likely flat and is not wide enough for a cart. A bike goes down the middle of a trail or road with 2 tire tracks and a cart goes on the top of the tire rut. They can also be loud. Going up hill with a cart really sucks. It’s not absolutely horrible, but it’s not great. Also if it’s muddy it’s going to really suck.

Serious question for those talking about riding in several miles on one - what do you do when you actually kill a deer? Can you haul a cart behind one, assuming easy terrain?

If you are over 1/2 mile back the best thing is to treat it like a western hunt and quarter a deer up and bring it out in pieces. Have a game cart and take it out 1/2 at a time or so. You maybe able to bike it out on a cart I’ve never tried.

You definitely don’t want to shoot a fat doe 2 miles back unless you really want that meat.

ETA: this is a regular bike. An ebike with a trailer maybe very doable to cart an animal out. One of the challenges of a bike cart with an animal is the same with any game cart and it’s tough to keep an animal on it, strapped down, and within the wheel base. Much harder than you would expect.

I've been seeing a lot of interest in online e-bike stores like Rad Power Bikes. A lot of sellers are taking advantage of the online-only sales model to reduce prices for quality products. You can get a decent 750W ebike for under $2,000.

On public land in MS, you are allowed to use a 4 wheeler to retrieve your kill. And we do just that at our camp.

If/when I purchase my bike, I'll probably add a cart to the purchase as a way to bring in my climber. I'm not sure I trust that rear rack to strap my climber to without making some modifications.

My thoughts:

1. Hunting down south, the derailer (sp?) on most 9 speeds hangs low and can catch debris...reason I’m going with Rambo Bushwacker (3 speed internal hub)

2. Don’t put anything on rear rack you can’t get your leg over. Bakcou had step through bikes just none available at 750 (max power in most federal locales).

3. Put fenders on the damn things.

4. Have to toss out $ for way to haul on hitch; takes up too much room of truck bed and heavy

5. Chamge out seat

6. Get a damn Rambo 2 wheel game cart (easy to detach and carry to game yourself)

7. I ONLY hunt public land in MS / MO / LA / NE, etc. so I know you all of the myriad of issues getting game out (whole - NWR/MS; deboned if you want - MO/NE; etc).

8. Most states don’t allow ATVs so the Ebike is a game changer

9. I have had multiple back and neck surgeries thanks to Uncle Sam, and I need all the help I can get to keep this train moving

Yeah, I'm aware of that, but previous comments made me assume the e-bike was to take the place of a 4-wheeler. Just curious how well it would work getting a deer out.
Zero chance I could use an e-bike or bike of any type where I hunt - mud.
