So, so typical of Democrat leaders.

Create a huge problem, tell everyone that you have the solution, provide no solution, blame Trump, media backs you up, LCD voters clap like retarded seals, wash, rinse, and repeat.

“What I am sort of flabbergasted by right now is colleagues, who a very short time ago were calling for abolition, are now suggesting we should be putting more resources and funding into MPD,” Councilmember Phillipe Cunningham, who supported defunding the department, said during a police reform meeting Tuesday.

The level of stupid is amazing.

quote:

“If we have these systems in place, we are getting ahead of the violence,” Cunningham said. “That’s why I have advocated so strongly for the violence interrupters, because if they are interrupting the violence before the guns are being fired, then the MPD doesn’t have to respond to that violence.”

You know whats a good violence interrupter? An armed cop. Apparently this rocket scientist thinks he can have "violence interrupters" around all the violent people all the time. Those "violence interrupters" are basically unarmed and ill trained to handle a violent situation. Whats going to happen is those people will be robbed, assaulted and even killed.

The reality is their fantasy is not only detached from reality but common sense.

"One explanation for the change in behavior could be the phenomenon of a “pullback”—police reducing their proactive activity in the wake of public criticism of their performance."

"The slowdown in stops might also be attributed to other factors, such as a potential change in police priorities, and the effects of Covid-19, which led to less activity on the street."

Which of these theories is the right theory? If I'm a politician under heat in Minneapolis I vote for the COVID excuse right?

Would you want the job of being a Violence Interrupter? I'm assuming these people won't be armed. Seems like a good way to get killed.

That's exactly what happened last year in DC: Violence Interrupter Shot and Killed in Southeast DC

According to a comment to the following article, the victim was charged with distribution of a controlled substance just a month prior and was on probation for assault with a dangerous weapon. See Comments Section A quick search of the DC court website (to which the commenter linked) confirms at least the drug charges. In fact, he was arraigned on those charges just a couple of days before he was murdered.

I've never been able to hide my incredulity when I see mention of a "violence interrupter" program. Regardless, even if this guy had completely turned his life around in a month or so, it was pretty dumb for them to designate him as a violence interrupter so soon when he undoubtedly still had rival drug dealers out there who had problems with him.

I wonder how many Violence Interrupters getting shot in the head it will take to prove that Violence Interrupters do not work.
