I was looking through his channel, and pulled up one of his older videos (I had just watched his June one on Ghostbusters 2016) and saw a video on Ghostbusters 2016 from 2 years ago on the feed. Considering in his June 2020 video he mentioned he was just then watching the movie, I was curious.

The video certainly implied he had scene the movie specifically to critique it, but a few things stood out:
1. His style of commentary was different. Still entertaining, but way less of his own humor.
2. His voice was very different. Still Scottish, but a bit higher pitched.

I was scrolling through and found where it seemed that everything changed, and honestly I cannot find anywhere that someone mentions that it's a different person, but the last video with the higher pitched voice was about the Captain Marvel RT reviews:

February 5th, 2019

Then the next one has the voice much closer to what we're used to and the humor we know, also about Captain Marvel (with sarcastic title to boot):

March 1st, 2019

Anyone else know if the channel was sold or something? It's really striking listening to the older videos and comparing them to the newer ones, with humor and voice change - or is this a funny, drunk version of Ronald McDonald with a different person behind the makeup?

I've just assumed that he got a better quality microphone, and got better at doing his job.

Maybe?

The contrast feels night and day to me, to the point of being different people. I admit I could easily be wrong.

I think he just settled on a "character" for how he wanted to sound.

The June 2020 video is titled: "Ghostbusters 2016 - Its As Bad As I Remember"

He does say in the description "For all the terrible movies I've reviewed in my time, there's one that's escaped my critical eye until now."

I believe what that description means isn't that he just then watched it for the first time but that he had never done a full review of the film until now. The 2018 video is a side by side comparison on just one scene, not a full review.

It is the same guy. The 2018 video sounds like a different mic, in a different room (or a mic that doesn't have as much rejection so we hear the room more) and he is just speaking in his normal voice, not as "in character" as the 2020 video.

Go away now!

I was thinking the same thing. All info points to the same person but to me it sounds like to different people
