I’m sure there are plenty of great options in and around the Bay Area but don’t forget about Peet’s which is from Berkeley.

It’s great stuff.

home roast in popcorn poppers

Been doing this for 2 years - can’t be beat for freshness and ability to try a variety of coffees from around the world. Only takes about 10 minutes to do a batch (1/2 to 1 lb)

For something you can just pick up in a grocery store ... Lavazza

It's Italian roasted ... very, very good. A couple of bucks more than Community, but very good.
We like Lavazza. They have different blends which vary in darkness/strength (or intensity, as they call it). Our favorite Lavazza is their Classico ground blend. We also like (a bit better) one of their Italian competitors, Illy (medium roast for drip).

I've always been a regular Community fan - still am, but if I have a little time at home I'll brew some Reve Columbian. It's the best, most unique I've had. I'm not a connoisseur by any means, but it's so dang good. I'll grind some in the morning and pour into a French press. While I'm getting ready for work I'll let it sit in there and it's perfect by the time I'm ready to leave. If you can find some I'd highly recommend it - Reve Columbian.

2nd on Reve. Have been drinking their Ethiopian and been very impressed. Will try the Colombian next. They’re available at Whole Foods.
