When was the last time we had a good "Is Avatar the Last Airbender an anime" thread?

Anime really likes to turn foes into allies.
If you look at Dragon Ball almost every hero besides Goku and I think Krillin starts out as an enemy. Picollo, Vegeta, the androids
every ally in Rurouni Kenshin has a pretty solid arc.

Steve was just a dick teenager. He didn’t go to lows Zuko did.

Krillian started off as a rival to Goku and cheated many times. He wasn't a true baddie but he certainly wasn't how he is portrayed now.

Johnny from Karate Kid. He hands the trophy to Daniel son and claims he is the true champion.

Vegeta
Vegeta I think would be the closest, but here’s why Zuko’s better: Zuko had a Red Wedding moment where you wanted to throw the remote at your screen. Most shows would have redeemed Zuko at that moment, but this show was smart enough to realize what if he did a mass atrocity to get everything that he’s ever asked for and then live with the ramifications of getting that. You’re pissed as all hell at him, but Zuko in the end isn’t bullied into his ideology. He just comes to that conclusion that all that he was forced to believe was bullshite and it was his unique duty and destiny to end the war.

ETA: I hope they do this justice with the live action adaptation. I wonder, if it does well, if they take the adaptation further as the original was initially intended. If so, I wonder if we get an Azula redemption arc.
The rumor I’m hearing is it’s Netflix most expensive series ever. Like 350 million for the first season. They’re easily targeting overshooting Game of Thrones budget and wanting to get within reaching distance of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings. This is Netflix’s answer to a successor to Game of Thrones and to match Amazon’s Lord of the Rings.

G'Kar in Babylon 5 is pretty good.
(ETA: I also second Bubbles from The Wire.)

It’s not film or Tv, but I’m reading the Lightbringer Series. Gavin Guile. Just wow.

Prez had a pretty good arc in the Wire as well.
