Definitely get 3 quotes. Figure out what you want first, or maybe just have one person come over first and quote you. Then take that quote and figure out what you want.

Landscaping quotes are hard because those frickers don't listen and all quote something completely different than what you asked for. So its impossible to compare them.

But honestly if you want the best deal, you find a residential guy that wants to hustle. If all you need is cutting and trimming residential are fine. The big dogs are much more expensive and usually only needed if you have specialty work or a lot of perrennials, that sort of thing.

Big color and mulch are the hang-up with a residential guy. Mullin, RCI, they can send 40 guys out and mulch a place in 3 hours. There’s a 1 in 10 chance you find the right residential guy that can truly handle a big mulch or color job. Non-commercial guys usually don’t carry the insurance or licenses to do commercial work either. That’s not to say you don’t have someone in your area hungry to move up to doing commercial work. If that person exists, your risk could pay off.

Agreed. Residential and big commercial are two totally different animals

The Plant Gallery has a lot of commercial clients. They do good work, but no clue the costs.

I’m assuming big color means annual flowers? Certainly agree with that and I noted that above. OP didn’t mention that though he said medical offices with light maintenance of beds.

I’m just saying outside of insurance and ability, if all you need is trimming, mowing, and light maintenance there’s no reason to go with a big dog.

there certainly is...
they need to be there on the day they say they will, without handholding or excessive back & forth. they need to show up with a truck full of guys, wearing PPE, do the job quickly and cleanly, not interfere with operations, and then get out. they need to be able to invoice electronically, participate in a work order system, and warrant their work.

cost is not the issue, performance is

big commercial companies will want you to sign up for more than just cut, edge, trim, and blow.

They want you to do color replacement, mulch replacement, insecticide treatments etc.

If he's after just the trimming and mowing then i'd find a lower end guy not a high end maintenance company.
