I believe her first round audition was in Baton Rouge. There’s a few rounds before you get to the judges. I think the filmed audition in front of the judges was in Portland, OR.

Man the girl in the wheelchair broke us up. She probably doesn’t make it out of Hollywood but glad they gave her the ticket. Inspirational

Not the strongest lineup this week imo. I probably liked the Sophia Star girl the most, and also that ol country baw with the mullet muddy arse boots and asphalt finger nails

He’s real raw but has talent and can play the guitar damn good. Hopefully he’s one that can take off with some coaching. Had a Jerry Cantrell sound imo.

South Louisiana has a music culture unrivaled in most places. While some cities like Nashville, NYC, Austin, and L.A. attract music talent to come there, south Louisiana is where a lot of musicians come from. A huge percentage of kids are raised to play music. It varies from community to community, but there is a very strong original music and performance culture down here.

They thinned the herd pretty good last night for genre week...

Curious to see how the rest of Hollywood week goes

Hell yeah he was!! That’s two really good guys with him and Jovin

We loved this guy as well, really unique sound, Katy Perry told him “You are the season”. Big contender:

Franklin Boone

And man the last contestant was an all time tear jerker. 9 months pregnant 23 year old giving her daughter up for adoption. Just a beautiful segment and she had an outstandingly beautiful voice as well. Big fans of her going forward

Amber Feidler

Now off to Hollywood...

Some of these Duets have been amazing...

I really like this format...

gives you a much better sense of the singer and their talents.

The Prayer sung by the 2 girls both with huge voices... i had chills.

Jovin killed it with the Stapleton. We always pull Tennessee Whiskey out when we play bars with less “welcoming” clientele to folks like Jovin. Always works like a charm to win them over.

Faith was absolutely phenomenal, though. Wow!!!

Man this is shaping up to be one of the best seasons I can remember. There are some absolutely incredible singers in this group.

We always try to pick our top 10 and it’s usually pretty top heavy but there are legitimately a dozen or more that I could see winning. Can’t wait to see how all these artists develop.

Here’s our top list so far (May be forgetting a couple):

Guys:
Top Tier
1 Arthur Gunn (Kathmandu)
2) JOVIN
3) Franklin Boone

Second Tier
4) Dillon James
5) Louis Knight
6) Bilaal Avaz

I like Robert Taylor and think he’s talented but he may go too far off the rails and not do songs that people want to hear. His original last night just wasn’t very good and almost cost himself a spot in the top 40.

Girls:
Top Tier:
1) Lauren Mascitti
2) Just Sam
3) Sophia Star
4) Shannon Gibbons
5) Amber
6) Julia Gargano
7) Cyniah Elise

Second tier:
Kimmy
Genevieve
Makaylah
Geena
Olivia

Not a huge fan of Faith so far but we’ll see if she can tone down her theatrics too to get possibly three Louisiana contestants to the finals.

Honestly the girls are way too stacked. There are so so many good ones I really hope they don’t do an even split with the girls and guys.

Guys like Nick and Johnny that they’ve made characters out of just aren’t good enough to take a spot from any of these girls.

Here’s an ABC link with lots of other performances for others that didn’t make our list but are still good.

Going to be interesting next week

I still watch Idol but I’m ready for new judges.

Show is featuring some solid vocal talent this season. I feel this season a female wins it. There’s a young African-American girl (NOT the one with the tats on her neck) that I think has the whole package to win it all. (I don’t remember their names until they narrow it down to Top 10).

Are you saying you feel strongly that Just Sam doesn’t have the ability to win it all?? Did last night’s performance change that opinion for you?? Hell she has to be a top 5 favorite at this point.

Was sad to see Amber go last night. I had a feeling she may be in trouble as they hadn’t shown her much since her first great audition. She seemed pretty devastated, it’s been an emotional couple of months with her delivery and then giving up the baby for adoption. Such a great story, wish she could have gone on to the top 20, but that last performance was definitely not a great song choice.

No other surprises last night imo. Figured Nick and Johnny would make it even though they aren’t great. Just not enough great guys.

Louis killed it though and Jovin solid as always.

I think Dillon is a shoe in despite the cliff hanger. He sang The Times They Are A Changin better than Dylan

I think you are talking a bout Ryan Harmon. The judges said he was good but better off in Nashville which made no sense. I think the reason he didn't make it is because he didn't have the looks that is desired on idol.

The same thing happened to Luke Combs which I believe it was on the voice. He said that his voice wasn't the problem as he passed from one audition to another. Then he got a letter from the mail saying that he was kicked off because he wasn't interesting enough.

Fast forward later and he won male vocalist of the Year in country music.

shite, saw the show didn’t record tonight and thought our DVR messed up. But looks like they are having to change schedule due to COVID

ABC has shifted scheduling for American Idol amid the coronavirus pandemic and is exploring “multiple” options for its live shows.

The network is spreading its next two episodes, set in Aulani, across two weeks rather than one.

The next two episodes will air on Sunday March 29 between 8pm and 10pm and Sunday April 5 in the same timeslot. It was previously planned to have the Hawaii showcase eps run on March 29 and March 30.

On Sunday April 12 and Sunday April 19, it will air American Idol: This is Me, which will look at the lives of our Top 20 contestants, with unseen footage and performance highlights.

In terms of the live shows, the network is “monitoring” the situation and said that it is “exploring multiple options within statewide guidelines”. An ABC spokeswoman added, “We will share a production plan as soon as it’s in place.”

Yeah that was our thought when we saw that segment as well. Seemed like a good guy and yeah he was definitely good enough to make it to Hollywood but didn’t have the look.

Yeah not a fan at all. He isn’t that good and his GF is annoying as hell.

Sucks this season lost some momentum but we kind of enjoyed the This Is Me segments.

It was totally lame though the way they chose the two country girls to go head to head in votes for the final top 20 spot. The blond has a good voice and all, but I think Lauren Mascitti is a legitimate star. Sucks that she could go out to a gimmick like that.

I think the top 3 contenders seem to be Arthur Gunn, Just Sam, and Franklin Boone. All three of those are outstanding and will have futures after this regardless of what happens.

Top 10 imo:

Guys:

1) Arthur Gunn
2) Franklin Boone
3) Louis Knight
4) Jovin Webb
5) Dillon James

Girls:

1) Just Sam
2) Olivia Ximenes
3) Sophia Star
4) Julia Gargamo
5) Cynia Elise

If Lauren Miscitti makes top 20 I think she’ll be top 10 as well. Again, really sucks that she could go out before people knew voting was going to start.

Makaylah is also a dark horse to make a run.

Again just a really strong season, hope the live shows aren’t too different than usual.
