for the pats week or 2, i have been worried b/c i'd get error messages when trying to watch videos. a quick F5 solved the problem

however, it appears as of about 30 minutes ago ads are finally playing on my browser. no more errors so i assume they've gotten around it

anyone have any ad blocking software that works well other than ABP?

So far, nothing ad wise from Youtube has gotten around my uBlock Origin. I use this extension and ABP.

Don't these block the ads the run during videos (like commercials on regular tv) or the ads all over the page that I accidentally touch with phone or iPad because on app they force you to keep screen on active with their app without paying extra like playing sound in background is something on level of their content pricing even though they used to include it.

These can also bump me into Safari stopping what i was listening to and when i come back youtube is ready to push a free trial of their paid service which includes playing in background just like after some extremely loud commercials run forcing me to turn down volume & later getting free trial offer of plan without commercials.

I try to use guided access and block off touch screen to avoid accidentally touches wren just listening to something, but it's not a perfect solution.

I'm surprised they don't block folks with adblockers like plenty of sites do.

I came to the conclusion they would rather track what you watch and use that info than force advertisements on you.

As of yesterday I wasn't having any advertisements on my PC.

Yeah, don't use Brave.

quote:

While users generally don't expect much privacy from browsers like Google Chrome, the Brave browser promised to do better. By whitelisting the domains of some of the biggest data collectors on the internet, they have lost the trust of a large number of users and will need to work hard to get it back. An editable whitelist, like the one Firefox offers, would have solved the technical problem faced by users who wanted to use Facebook Connect or Facebook Share, without having to hardcode the domains. Only time will tell whether Brave will improve in the future and offer the golden promise – a truly untracked browsing experience.
