The Senate stimulus/relief package passed 96-0 because 4 Senators were quarantined at home. The house is waiting until late Friday to hold a vote, but some members are not going to be present beverage they cannot get to DC because of the limited flight options and some are self-quarantining. Why can’t those members use Zoom, FaceTime, etc to vote and participate in committee work from home. As long as it’s not national security or classified stuff is not a security risk and we don’t have to worry about imposters (i.e Rand Paul’s terrible hair is impossible to fake). Why is the legislative branch of the most powerful nation in history and the nation that invented the telephone and the internet stuck in the 18th century?

If nothing else, vote by proxy. That's actually been done before.

Silver lining... the reps in New York can't go vote because of the 14 day quarantine thing, right? Or was that just a "suggested" quarantine?

Essential personnel are exempt from the quarantine unless they have tested positive.

Has she tested positive? If not then members of Congress are considered to be essential.

No... I thought people from New York City, if they left New York City, had to quarantine themselves for 14 days. But I'm sure that's optional.

It was a poor attempt at humor. Nothing more.

Upon reflection... a VERY poor attempt at humor.

I would have thought the Iowa primary would have been proof enough of how incapable anything but in person voting in old fashioned, tried and true, methods are of the utmost importance in the governing of the Nation.

Goldfish really do have a longer attention span than Americans!

Its a legal issue more than a logistical one. Im certain they could pass an emergency bill today if they so choose. Just more "look at me now, you cant do without me".

Kind of funny that they will not let their members vote from home but want to allow the entire country to mail in ballots for the 2020 Presidential election.
