Termite Renewal - Talstar

My termite company just sent me the bill for my renewal. They went by the house yesterday and the invoice shows they sprayed Talstar around the house. Is it worth keeping them under contract when they are spraying probably $10 worth of product for $225 a pop? I had them treat the house with Termidor a few years back.
I live in an old raised house in BR. Most of the house is cypress and cedar from the structure to the siding.

I had a shed made 100% of old cypress. That thing was so eaten up by termites that I'm pretty sure the termites themselves were holding it up.
Termites will still eat cypress wood. They'll also eat cedar but not as much. Have some cedar wood inside a detatched structure right now that was eaten up by termites that I recently found.
Termidor/Taurus SC is the most effective at killing termite colonies. Boracare is damn good at it too, although it works slightly differently.

Honestly, you are likely mostly paying for the insurance contract and some labor for the termite inspection in that fee. I guess it was “nice” they sprayed some bifenthrin for insects while inspecting.
Termidor (fipronil) is an excellent, long lasting termiticide, probably the best product available. Seems to me it’s a question of whether you want the piece of mind of having the insurance component of your termite contract or not, and I know that is a different issue all together.

Just know that most termite company insurance and bonds don't cover the damage from Formosan termites or termites that do not come from the ground, as in flying. But they will kill them for you if you have them.

I second this.
Also works great for ants. And just about any other colony insect.

They applied Talstar or Termidor? Talstar is for ants

The biggest BS in the termite industry is “retreatment”.
Termidor lasts for a decade+ undisturbed. Spraying anything around the house annually does absolutely nothing to prevent termite infestation.
Regardless-
Your renewal is paying for an annual inspection and retreatment contract. This is required throughout the state with any licensed pest control company. If you keep the contact and pay them annually they will retreat the house for free if you get another infestation. Some offer a damage guarantee along with this, not all do.
If you would’ve read/saved the contract you signed a few years ago when you had them treat the house with Termidor you wouldn’t be asking any questions here on TD- every question you could possibly have would be answered by that contract that you signed.
