The wife and I decided that 2020 was going to be the year we go from "fat and happy" to "fit and happy" so after some research I decided to pick up BoxVR as a way to combine gaming and exercise.

I completed my first 15 minutes and it was a freaking blast! I'll probably change up with some other programs (Beat Saber, Creed, etc) as time goes on to keep things fresh but even the beginner workouts were fun.

I'm waiting for someone to come out with one for martial arts (stances, punches, etc) and weapons training (staff, sword, etc) but I have plenty of shooters and boxing games to make do til then.

Good for you. Good luck to you and your wife. Not being flippant but a good bike ride is also good.

VR would be amazing for exercise if the lenses didn't fog up when sweating. Some people say to use a fan, but for me that doesn't work on bear saber.

It's strange. I played for a good while last night, no fog at all. I get the rig going this morning and I had to stop 30 seconds in due to foggy lenses, then every 5 minutes or so.

Full body tracking adds another layer to exercise as well because it adds your lower body more in the mix. Not a lot of games support it, it’s a whole other dimension with blade and sorcery and being able to kick. Beat saber if you import your own avatar can be a blast.

I don’t have an issue with fogging on the Valve Index and I have several face inserts so I can wash the ones I use when I start sweating.

We don't bike together because she works out of town 4 days out of the week (she's in during the week so we try to spend our evenings together doing things around the house). She's started doing her workouts before work as a new PF just opened next to her office. When she's out I have to come straight home to let the dog out (or risk retaliatory "deposits" for my late return).

I used to bike a lot, if we had any half-decent trails nearby I might consider it again (or at least the ability to go from neighborhood to neighborhood without having to cross high-traffic roadways. Unfortunately all we have anywhere around are streets that are randomly traffic-y and our neighborhood is surrounded by high-traffic roads.

So for my situation this is the best option.

Now I just have to get back to cutting carbs out of my diet again (the holidays were brutal )

Blade and Sorcery or Boneworks, Blade and Sorcery has an incredible modding community and Boneworks is just next level that shows what VR is meant to be, it’s the first game that I really feel has taken that next step, kinda stinks they didn’t use full body though to be able to kick.

Blade and Sorcery makes me wish I had gone with a Quest instead of a Rift S. I haven't looked at Boneworks yet, will definitely keep it in mind though (thanks for the tip ).

I'm probably about to buy a face insert, I didn't really think on the sweat factor before I jumped into this.

I haven't touched my Vive in forever and while most of the games are really just gimmicks ... Beat Saber is awesome.
