May 2018: "Hello, Joe Burrow ... we hope you enjoy the pressure of playing QB at LSU"

I re-read this article from The Advocate and thought I'd share. Some fun points that were made:
quote:
I hope you like seeing your name Cajunized — Jeaux Burreaux.
quote:
Your position is always crucial, but here the quarterback spot has reached critical mass as LSU tries (we think) to modernize its offense under Steve Ensminger.
quote:
Your problem is someone may expect you to be Flynn. Or Zach Mettenberger, who threw for more than 5,600 yards in 2012-13 after transferring in from a junior college following his banishment from Georgia.
Or Joe Montana.
quote:
Hey, maybe you will come here and have a great career, lead LSU to a lot of wins. Maybe even a championship. The defense won’t be shabby at all, and you will have some nice targets to pass to.

This is such a hilarious quote looking back.
They were two top 10 LSU QBs all-time, Flynn being top 5, arguably top 3 and they don't even come close to Joe Burrow.
What a season.

Flynn wasn't a top 5 LSU QB. Probably top 10.

Allen Rischer was very good. Matt March as well. Good list as well.
Buddy Lee and Hilman are overlooked.

I was hoping for Mett at best, Etling at worst. Ended up getting a QB who put up the stats of both of those two combined.

Zach Mettenberger
Mett was a fantastic QB ruined by Less. Also, his senior year was the worst defense we have had in a decade and his OL almost had him crippled. Outside of that We had some serious weapons on offense that year but Miles shite the bed.

Joe Burrow did enough in one season to become the best QB of all time at LSU. Moving him above QBs who played 4 seasons here. Incredible.

Joe about to break that in one season

Mike Hillman and YA Tittle are the most forgotten QBs to play at LSU..
Hillman had a very good career and an exceptional 1969 season at LSU...
YA Tittle went on to a monster career in the NFL..
