Absolutely. Currently playing my Barbarian named Doopsnogg in Act 2 of Nightmare.
I saw that they'll have a ladder reset on December 6th though. Blizzard Post.

It's probably for the best.
I'm not a fan of the WC3 remaster at all. I will likely just play baseline WC3 after it comes out because at least the population boost will be nice. I don't like the graphics at all compared to the original.

The team at Blizzard North was thankfully able to reconstruct a lot of the code and assets from the version of Diablo II that developers took home to play. However, the root code and assets were apparently lost, which means Blizzard would have a tough time making a Diablo II Remaster today.
