Need the travel board's expertise.
Few friends and I are planning to try an all inclusive resort in Mexico.
I've never been on/to an all inclusive so I need your advice.
Best package deals with flights? Preferred resorts for you?
Things we need to be aware of?
Flying out of Baton Rouge/Nola.

Look into Excellence playa mujeres. We loved it

Wife and I enjoy El Dorado Royals Casitas suites. Many restaurant options, good pools, fun on site including night life.
I would be wary of those with only one or two restaurants. Typically those will recycle main course from dinner into some sort of ‘salad’ the next morning/afternoon.
Do you seek excursions or prefer to relax on site?

We stayed at Royale and got married on the pier at Generations. We plan to go back and stay in Casitas. Second the food, fun, and pools - there’s enough to the resort that you never have to do the same thing twice. Took the guys fishing and one of the restaurants served us our catch that night. Beaches were great, plenty of space for relative privacy. Generations beach looked the best; wish we had explored that portion of resort more.

I've been to Secrets (Los Cabos) and Breathless (Riviera Maya, Cancun). Liked both, but Breathless is more-rowdy of the two. That said, it's easy/safe to get off the Secrets property and go to Flora Farms, San Jose del Cabo, etc.

We just stayed at the Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta. Check it out. Very nice and safe - easy flights also.

We stayed at el dorado maroma last july for our 15th anniversary. We will be back next year for our 17th with some friends. Food was fantastic with plenty of dining options.

I just got back from Hotel Xcaret Mexico. There is no place in Mexico that can touch it. It’s all fun inclusive, meaning it includes free admission to 9 of the Xcaret parks. The place is unreal and I’m shocked that it never gets mentioned on here. I booked on Expedia and it was $5k for my family of 4 which included flights from New Orleans.

What part of Mexico are you going to?
I have been to Cabo (Sandos), Rivera Maya (Grand Velas/ Secrets Moroma/ Secrets Playa Mujeres) and Puerto Vallarta (grand velas riviera nayarit/casa velas). If you are going for Adults only I would recommended Secrets Moroma. It did have a livelier crowd, but the food and drinks were great. Of all the ones I have been to Grand Velas Rivera Maya was the best. The restaurants are amazing, the spa was great, and the beach was awesome. The only one I would never go back is to Secrets Playa Mujeres. The only nice thing about that place was the beach, but even that wasn't that great.

How many days were you there for? Is this in Cancun or the surrounding areas?

Likely relax on site.

Undecided. Our group literally is planning from scratch, and I figured the Travel Board would have great suggestions. I was right.

If it’s relax on site I recommend El Dorado Royale. Can stay at Royale or get some of the bungalows surrounding a more private pool on the casitas side. If there’s enough of you going you’d basically have a pool with swim up bar to yourself. If you want to get around more people you can always head to the main pool a short walk away.

A week. Just south of playa del Carmen. 45 minute bus ride. The bus is very nice.

Echo the El Dorado Royale, big enough, but not too big that its not walkable. Plenty of restaurants.
We have been 4x and upgraded at check in to Casitas one time; it was nice, but maybe not worth it as we still spent a lot of time at the main pool and on the beach.

I loved Oyseter Bay last year and we are planning on going to EPM soon. Do you think it's worth it to go excellence club here?
