Is it safe?

Staying in downtown Denver.
Need to get to Union Station from Grand Hyatt on Welton.

Is this a walk through massive amounts of homeless, etc?

16th St Mall doesn’t have any cars and is very commercial. Pretty much all of the chain stores and restaurants. I think the light rail is free from the station to your Hotel. It’s the most touristy part of Denver.

Thanks.

I went there in maybe 2009, but I don’t remember much about the area.

I went to Portland recently.
There were bums sleeping on the streets. It was sort of sketchy even around the touristy areas.

I don’t like panhandlers and such. It’s annoying.

It’s safe to use for getting around but don’t plan your trip to stay in that area, when people have a bad time in Denver is almost always because they spent too much time in the mall area.

Yeah it’s safe. Everyone rides it. There’s nothing wrong with 16th street for a night.

I spent a lot of time on Denver public transit last summer and hung out there often. No trouble.

Not from Union Station. Mall shuttle would be the way to go.

it would be faster to walk than to take the bus.

Why would you not walk 1.5 miles to union station?

You would step on a mall bus and get driven 1.5 miles to Union Station. Probably because you’re catching the light rail to Denver airport from Union Station and have some luggage?
