So if I transcode to HEVC in handbrake (obviously this may take a while with a less than optimal CPU) and then play that outputed file via direct play to plex, it should work pretty smoothly?

you can do all that or email me at cad703x@live.com and i'll hook you up with a place you can grab them already converted for free.

eta i'd love to get your thoughts quality-wise on a H265 HDR rip vs playing the same movie from your UHD disk.

tru dat. i'm not kork so i don't have unlimited data or cool tools with extra RRRs at the end that constantly search the web for better copies and automatically upgrade them.

but i'm definitely keeping an eye out for 265 for anything new thats out..i'll wait around until it shows up.

My friend you need sonarr. Radarr for movies. Get you a usenet account and private indexer and never worry about HNR's or seeding again. Fully automated library. Even renames the files in the Plex format and creates folders for them.

I don't think we're going to lose Bluray media any time soon. People still want to own some movies to a certain degree, even if it's way fewer than they would in the past, and the high-end home cinema market demands video of a quality you can't get with streaming even if the masses are ok with basic streaming. It's not like optical discs cost much to manufacture.

You got a good indexer recommendation? That seems to be the biggest hurdle for finding quality stuff on Usenet.

omgwtfnzsb is a good one. The problem is they are all invite only. I lucked into a omg one. Nzsb.in is the most sought after. They only recruit on HDBits as far as I know. NZBGeek is pretty good though and it covers pretty much the basic stuff. And it's open reg. The more elusive ones mirror private tracker encodes, which is what makes them more sought after.

You need to start your own ISP. That's what I'm going to do if my local unlimited option goes away.

Those cool tools are free and they're huge time savers.

I used couchpotato for a while but it kept acting up and wasn't updated regularly, so I switched to Radarr and it's been great. The combo of Radarr and Sonarr is great and they save loads of time.

This guy knows what's up.

I have a usenet account with supernews (there are probably better/cheaper ones but whatever) and I have an account with the dognzb indexer. My connection to supernews is encrypted so I don't bother with a VPN or worry about my ISP snooping on the large datasets that I download for research purposes.

Add Ombi and NZBHydra2 to the mix for shits and giggles. Ombi can be the front end request system for anyone on your Plex library. They can stack requests up for movies that just hit the theaters and you can tell it when to download it based on quality. I tell it to wait until a physical copy is available.

Hydra lumps your indexers together into a single API so when you request something it searches all of your indexers for better coverage.

Now my problem is getting a reverse proxy working on Windows 10 so I can access all my services away from home via a webpage. Goddamn nginx is like black magic. Let alone trying to make it https.
