Missing bases, getting picked off of 3rd

Despite the poor play LSU was in a position to win both games if they didn’t commit some crucial errors.

It’s the same thing they did in the championship series against Florida in 2017. Paul Mainieri’s teams play too uptight and tense in the postseason. They’ve done so ever since 2009. It’s like the expectations get to Mainieri and he puts too much pressure on them.

I think back to 2017 where Kevin O’Sullivan was on the field playing catch with his son while Mainieri was red faced and uptight. LSU committed uncharacteristic mistakes that series and lost in two games.

I absolutely agree and strange because of how loose they seem in Hoover every year

It’s nothing I haven’t said before. It’s just another postseason weekend that proves the point.

I just like having a reason to watching Omaha

CPM has given me a reason only 3 times this decade. That blows

Mainieri gets that poo face every post season. He’s way too uptight and it rubs off on the team. It sucks because he’s always so relaxed in Hoover and they always play really well there. It’s like the pressure gets to him between Hoover and the regionals

LSU went to Omaha 3 times in the 2010s. That’s not good enough for this program.

LSU’s won one national championship in 19 years and is on its longest championship drought since winning its first in 1991.

It was 9 years from 2000 to 2009. We’re now on year 11 starting next season.

idk about the team being under too much pressure or what, but some of the mistakes were completely inexcusable.

DiGiacomo getting picked off third was awful. Watson going to second and getting "thrown out" when he could've and should've stayed his arse at first all come to mind.

it wasn't our weekend the moment Fla. State beat Georgia. NCAA wanted Martin back in Omaha and that's what they got. that's how I'm gonna rationalize it.

we only getting their because of superb talent in the past...to think if we had great elite coaching, we woulda won those series....pm only makes the cws if he has elite players...without lange and poche in 2017 we don't get to cws....if we had those two in place of Henry and marceaux this yr...the 2 would have carried pm's arse into the cws

I’m really frustrated that now I won’t have anything to cheer about until LSU football practices starts.

Its called pressure. But when seniors run the bases like freshmen, theres nothing anyone can do.
A LOT of those errors seemed unforced, but its the pressure and skill of FL St that made our guys press a little hard.

I don't even disagree completely, but if mainieri was chill and relaxing half the board would be livid because he's not fiery enough. He took the team fishing during fall ball and got lit up about it

FWIW, I was about to start a thread that this is a problem in more than just baseball. No LSU team sport has won a championship since 2009 (baseball).

We’ve had plenty of teams across track, gymnastics, baseball, softball, etc. and none of them could close the deal.

It’s a strange phenomenon how many teams we get to the final stages and don’t finish it off. I blame Fred’s free drinks.
